Sorry Frank I am not wearing makeup at this time…oops…sorry wrong newsgroup. Seriously now… Older brother…physician…no way in hell he’d have anxiety, it might ruin his perfect life… Me…sufferer all my life…but mostly in the last 22 years…I am 51 (perfect brother is about to turn 54) I think my mother had it too, but she would never "allow" that to be known. Jody (who finds all the family histories very interesting)

: : Aren’t marie and I the lucky ones. I wish there were more identical : twin studies to see if twins in general are more prediposed to anxiety : disorders?? I really do wonder. I mean, something had to be wrong to go : from dizygotics, to monozygotics right???
I was 31 when my GAD hit : really, really bad…my twin had her serious problems just two years : after me, although we had both been building up to it for years..She has : had OCD since the age of 3 and I had my own probs too. I don’t think PADs are more common among the overall twin population than the population in general. Just that among twins more than other sibs, if one has PAD the other is a bit more likely to get PAD too since they share genes. Best Wishes, Arthur
Response:
Brother 50, older, arrogant, obnoxious, brilliant shithead that taunted and teased me for 30 years, zero PD, he would never "allow" it.
Over control of ones emotions is not healthy either. KC Cindy 47. family loser. lifetime of anxiety, melodramatic emotions and depression…..currently agoraphobic and sick of it all. KC Cindy, You’re never a loser to us.
I agree totally!!!
Response:
<snipped sorry Arthur, just had to do it. Among people who have PD, the likelyhood of a sibling developing PD is 31% for identical twins, and 20% otherwise. Best Wishes, Arthur

Hi all In my first session with my analyst, he asked the basic questions about my background. When I stated I was a middle child he sighed an ahhaaa in such a way that it was obviously a trend of some sort. I am curious about the makup of ppl in this group regarding this. Could you please post maybe a list of the ages of your sibs in descending order with your age highlighted. I am very curious how it breaks down. Also it may be interesting if one or more of your sibs has similar anxiety problems to put *anxious* (or something) in brackets after their age.
Hi, Frank…. I’d be willing to bet you will find more first-borns on the NG……just my guess…… MikeH, 46 (PD/agoraphobia) Lynn, 41 (no anxiety or PD) Will be interesting to see the responses you get to this. Good question! MikeH

My sister is now 38, I’m now 36 and if my brother were still alive, he’d be 34 now. We all have/had panic disorder of various levels. My brother’s was the most acute and mine was the mildest.

My turn. But…in *my* country is very, very rude to ask a ‘lady’ <meaning me their ages, and since I have 4 sisters..I can’t reveal *my* age, or else, mathematically oriented people could come up with their ages as well, and that would be very, very rude

Hi all Hi, Frank. I’ve been meaning to ask – did you get the inspiration for your handle from Franco American, the brilliant culinary minds what brought us Spaghetti-O’s?
Yeah, I lived in Florida for a time, and was given the nick by some kids down there. I only use it in the news groups…to keep it separate from the rest of my net personna. In my first session with my analyst, he asked the basic questions about my background. When I stated I was a middle child he sighed an ahhaaa in such a way that it was obviously a trend of some sort. Oh, hey, they teach that in the third year of pshrink school. That "ahhaaa" thing, that is. It means your analyst is thinking, "should I have chicken or fish for supper tonight? I’m going to dinner at Helen’s tomorrow night and she always cooks such heavy meals, and I really should be…oh, hang on, I’ve got a patient in here…!"
Actually your quite right. They don’t tend to listen to closely…that clouds their sense of what your *really* saying. I had complete faith in my therapist for understanding what I meant..as apposed to what I said. One of my problems in talking to ppl is to sometimes make no sense whatsoever. I get the HUH????? response alot from ppl that aren’t so well trained. Okay, okay…just to say "I’m sorry" for giving you such a hard time this morning, I have…
What hard time? did I miss something? Brother older by 8 years Sister older by 4, but didn’t survive childhood Me [anxious? you betcha] Half-brother younger by 12 [anxious, too] Note that I gave relationships rather than ages. Yup, I’m getting to THAT stage of my life, alas, where I dislike naming the numbers. And, considering my half-brother has anxiety, too, I guess we know which parent to blame. Have to admire my father’s stamina, though – twenty years between the oldest and the youngest.
Hmmm…interesting. This makes me think of another question. "who do you blame…mom, or pop". Blame may not be fair tho, so I’ll have to think of a more politically correct word. My mother being anxious in a very similar manner to me, makes it obvious who’s to …um…at … um, where it came from. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Virginia p.s. I said STAMINA, you heathens!
