Question:
I sincerely liked your post regarding PTSD and how it affects you. Your last paragraph: <<Those of us who have been wounded need to learn to measure our days with a yardstick which takes into account where we have come from. We owe it to ourselves to treat ourselves with gentleness and respect as we journey through the rough terrain of the aftermath of trauma.>> …is absolutely beautiful! You seem to be very good to yourself, not beating up on yourself. This is good! You speak as though you’ve had at least one NDE. I am sorry for your suffering. In spite of it, though, you present a hopeful outlook. Optimism is a special cherished gift. The question you pose, "If you knew you would not live beyond today, how would you spend this day?" is thought-provoking indeed. I truly don’t know the answer to that question. I would hope to feel at peace with myself and comfortable with my growth in character. "Would you panic?" Probably initially. "Fall into denial and seek out intense distractions?" Denial, I don’t think so. Distractions? Hmmmm–I might request one more for the road. "Worry about what to wear?" Definately not. Nor would I honor past commitments or pay bills. "Grieve missed opportunities?" No. "Detach from loved ones?" No. "Nourish my hopes and dreams?" The hopes and dreams of this life would hold no further meaning; I would hope for forgiveness and resurrection. I think I’d be scared… that final walk into darkness. Fear of the unknown. Thank you for inspiring me to consider my last day on earth. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| "I have galloped my fiery steed through the gates of Hell and survived to return and tell about it." ~~AMe911

Pardon the ignorance, but what exactly is NDE? Thanks Gary
