Question:
Hi troops, Is there any US vets receiving a VA pension for PTSD and if so are subjected to repeated medical reassessments? I am trying to compare our Canadian system to the Americans. We have to get reassessed every 5 years thus bringing forth the trauma over again. Any info would be great. Be Well Odd Froggy

It sounds as though the military pension is very different from the civilian pension for the province of Ontario which doesn’t require this additional hurdle. The ODSP process is really quite painless for the applicant, and I’m surprised that the military would be any harsher for a ptsder to face. Sorry to hear that they’re going to add insult to injury. It’s one of those hoops that they make us jump through. It isn’t fair and it isn’t right. Knowing that this is going to happen though puts you in a good position to plan ahead, maybe even find some easier ways with your doctor, or even to put in some coping mechanisms ahead of time. Sometimes we get roped into the system because we don’t know about the alternatives that do exist. This is a good time to be assertive and to be asking a lot of questions.

Hi Helski, I’ve been doing pretty decent actually since I got back online. busy but ok. skim mostly but don’t read like I used to. That will change I hope by later June or so. I’m moving from NH to Calif. to be with someone I met online. *grins* Can’t wait. Just in the nick of time too. My rents going up to $855 in Aug.
