Question:
Today was the day I was supposed to go back to work. I didn’t. I couldn’t. My husband is sticking by me, and for that I’m so grateful. I’ve been drinking too much wine lately at night. I’m going to stop doing that. I can’t remember things in the morning. Especially now that I’m on Ativan and Zoloft…. I know better than to drink with that! My therapist will be back on Monday… I’m praying that I’m on the right path.
Response:
Cheryl, I’m glad to hear that you’ve got the support of your hubby. That’s so very critical for your continued health! Its also very wise to stop the drinking as they basically make anti-depressants worthless in your system (from my understanding, I could be wrong.) From my experience, I stopped self-medicating with booze and the like once I got serious about finding the right prescription meds to help me. I just didn’t "need" the booze anymore once I decided to take the "right" drugs for my conditions (PTSD and depression and all the sundry symptoms that come along with them.) You take care hon and get as much help as you can find. Have you read Aphrodite Matsakis’ book "I Can’t Get Over It" yet? Its one of the best in the field and helped me initially to figure out why I was suffering what I was suffering. I recommend it and others, but put it at the top of the list. Treat yourself to a copy, they may have it at the library, but you’ll want to mark and mark over much of the stuff in there! Kristine

Self medicating at the same time I am on psych meds would get me thrown out of the VA PTSD program. YMMV Smile and there will be something to smile about! Nancy

Thanks Kristine, I’ll look for that book. And I’m going to give the meds a chance without self medicating. Thanks for writing. Cheryl "BaliKris" <balik…@aol.comzipspam> wrote in message

Hi Kristine, Thanks for recommending "I Can’t Get Over It" to Cheryl. I can’t think of a better book to articulate so clearly what is oftentimes so confusing when trying to understand and address the issues and symptoms associated with PTSD. Hope you’re able to find a copy, Cheryl. Take care, Anne P.S. It’s absolutely gorgeous weather here on the prairie. `Hope everyone has a peaceful rest of the weekend. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->Have you read Aphrodite Matsakis’ book "I Can’t Get Over It" yet? YMMV = Your Mileage May Vary Smile and there will be something to smile about! Nancy

http://www.geocities.com/ben-fuzzybear/acronyms.html This list may be helpful. Nancy may have a different meaning, but this list seems pretty consistent with most "cyber speak". Take care, Anne on the prairie

Bravo…get your highlighter out and be prepared to receive A HUGE amount of those "Aha!" moments when you read this great book =) I’m so glad to hear you found it and at a discount (I do a lot of ebaying and amazon auctions too.) There are more books, but in my opinion this is the best one to begin with. You will receive quite a bit of comfort from it. I know I sure did. Kristine
