specialist in DID

Question:

Sometimes I know that I am not multiple. Of course other times…. :0) jane – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – ok.  so i found a specialist in DID in my area…well, he does other stuff, too, but he lists this as a specialty and he trains ther*pists in dissociation stuff. i don’t think that i’m having any problems right now that are specifically DID-related, but i do think that everything that is going on is affecting all of me, which includes my insiders.  and clearly, the loss of my ther*pist delivered a huge blow to those inside, as most have been quiet since then, and those that haven’t have pretty much insisted we not go to any "stupid doctors" anymore.  except lizzie, and she wants to go back to dr joe.   i’m thinking that it might help to consult with this guy.  just arrange to talk to him and get an opinion.  somebody we don’t have to hide from, and with whom we can be honest. This is one of the things we think a DID doc would be helpful for with us. Just the dynamic of being able to be with a tpst who could effectively be ok with all of us. -without it being a novelty or freak show or something "cool" or scary or whatever. Yeah, when we were just starting out I talked to a woman who was a specialist. She was _so_ cool about it all. _I_ was a nervous wreck and I think we switched probly 10 times during the hour but _she_ was so calm and matter of fact. At one point she pointed out that it was ok for the kids to go ‘outside’ (her suggestion was literally that they go sit in the waiting room and play with the toys:) while some of us talked about stuff. That blew our minds!!!! I mean, I was _so_ worried that I was really psychotic and here she was giving us permission to do what _seemed_ to be absolutely whacko! :) We talked to her to get a second opinion on it all. Our t’pist (the bestest one:) basically agreed with us that it didn’t matter what we called it, what mattered was that we had to fix what was causing us to be dysfunctional but several of us were very worried that he was just being nice and that we were really nuts. So we found a specialist who would clearly _know_ if we were nuts or multiple and made her tell us. She was so ‘useless’ *huge grin* While talking to three of us at the same time she absolutely agreed that if it freaked us out too much to say we were multiple it was ok to just think of ourselves as ‘dissy’. I’m not kidding! She used plural tense and used our names and everything and sat there with a straight face and agreed with us that if we wanted to ‘just’ be dissy that was ok. *hee hee* She then contacted our t’pist (we told her to of course) to tell him that yes, we were multiple and yes, our ptsd was REALLY bad. Of course _he_ knew that *huge grin* Rainbow Colors (Jill, who manged to work in t’py for five years under the delusion that we weren’t really multiple:)
