Question:
I’ve listened to this ‘X-no-archive: yes’ business to the point of deleting anything related to it the second I read it. It’s crazy. So DejaNews doesn’t post it in the archives. What about your ISP? Most keep that stuff for many, many months. Any half-assed Unix hacker can simply go into your ISP’s Server and suck it out. It’s very, very easy! As an experiment, I watched it done. My son has his own ISP and showed me. He retreived all my transmissions for the past year. It took longer to print them than get them. The ISP’s say this can’t be done but thats bullcrap. I watched a Unix hacker go into a hospital Server and order a T.E.N.’s unit (worth $1000.) to be given to a person. An appointment was also made. He went in and was fitted for the pain-killing electrical devise and walked out. There ain’t no safety in this world and we are fooling ourselves if we think there is. Regards Bill

That’s right. I am getting mail-bombed again, probably by the infamous Denise Gray, and have YET had AOL do anything about it. You pay for an ISP, but nothing is done about these ‘add your link sites’ who spam innocent victims relentlessly!! I have had to block all email but major domains to stop the crap. Luanne

Bill, I have some insights on this… though probably nothing you haven’t already thought of.
Most people don’t know how to search an ISP server for NG posts, IMO, so they feel safer than you might, because you have that knowledge. After thinking it over, I wasn’t sure what I was hiding from either, so I’ve decided it’s not such a big deal for me now. But I respect those who wish to remain un-archived and will do them the courtesy of removing addresses, and adding in the appropriate command (x-no-archive: yes) when responding to one of their posts. I see one of the goals of this NG to help people feel safe, so this seems like a simple thing to do to help make that happen. to each their own, Renee _______________________ Bill Trucks <b…@cyberius.net> wrote in message

I do not need to put that x-no-archive line in my own posts, I only put it when I reply to posts from people who do not wish to be archived in DejaNews. I do not think about it that much, I just write down that line for the other person and that is it. Blessed be, Galin
