Question:
I take 10mg. of Zyprexa before bedtime and it allows me to sleep. Without the Zyprexa my mind races and will not let me rest. I have no experience with Risperidal, so cannot comment on that particular drug. Hope this is of some help. –BTC

– Lot of people I know who have sleep problems due to PTSD just keep the TV going and with good healthy programs it allows the mind to focus on the healthy things and not running wild, can backfire if something is on like the Sci-Fi channel and start dreaming about vampires and all that, but even a tape that has continuous play can feed some good stuff to the brain just like the power of suggestion to the subconscious and not have to depend on artificial sleep, I get a good four hours of restful sleep and that is good enough to function with. My psychiatrist tells me that most people on Risperidone (Risperdal) usually sleep well. I usually have no problem sleeping 8 – 10 hours a day (or more). I found I slept even better on Seroquel although I was only on it for a short time. I have no experience with Zyprexa. Frank. him <d…@pottsville.infi.net> wrote in message

Hi there, Risperdal helps me sleep @ 4 mg day. I am a heavy person, I think that is why my dose is at 4mg. With adequate sleep I function normally with bursts of intensity. With inadequate sleep I do not work well and have little imagination, I go around dumbstruck and give short-tempered replies. If it is my leisure hours, guess what, I sit in a chair all day. My sleep varies through the week, maybe I have 4 good nights and 3 poor in the average week. Without Risperal I would be in trouble I am sure because of my surly behaviour arising from sleep loss. My kids are unbearable when they are short of sleep. No pills for them though. They always bounce back. Being an sz adult makes you less "bouncy" perhaps. My experience as an sz adult is that sleep is the key, always. What are the effects of insomnia for you ? I am on Zyprexa 15mg/day and it make me groggy as well as causing me to sleep longer hours but that has all pretty much gone away now (four weeks). Stelizine kicks in about 6 hours after taking it (for me at least). If you time it right, you don’t need sleeping pills. TG

Dear Readers, Will Risperdal or Zyprexa help me sleep at night? I have insomnia, and I need something strong enough. Which one would work better? What dosage? I intend to ask Dr. next time. Thanks, him
