Think it’s "Hope that Helps" (did someone just post that on another thread when I didn’t know, or is it a different acronym? I can’t remember. :/ ) Macademia Who wishes newsreaders would have an optional pop-up translation device for all known internet word thingies. A new kind of dictionary where you interact with it as you have need in real time explicitly for the internet. Maybe it could be called the Up to Date Online Usage Dicitonary for Internet terms and phrases.

hello, my name is helen mccorkle and i have been told my my psychologist that i have a dissociative disorder. it is depersonliztion disorder. my question is does anyone on the list have this condition and would you be willing to e-mail me and talk about it. i also have pstd and major depression. anyway thank you for reading this. helen
Well, email is always fine but I’d bet you will get quite a lot out of doing the public postings/readings here. Currently I _think_ my label is DDNOS (dissociative disorder not otherwise specified) which is just a catch all clump of ‘well, there is something going on but it doesn’t fit anywhere else’
I used to be labeled DID (or MPD, aka multiple) but I think I’m too blended for that any more. Of course I _really_ understand the depersonalized ‘way of life’ as I am _so_ good at that
~~~ I too have been labeled with ptsd and anxiety (guess we differ on this one:) Anything in particular you want to talk about? Questions? Feel free to email me or just jump into the group. Welcome and I’m glad you are here!
Hi, helen. Yeah, I have that problem from time to time. I used to think it was LSD flashbacks. In fact, I still think it might be related to all the recreational drugs I took in my misspent youth. Scary feeling, whatever the cause. But it helps to talk about it, and learn more about it, so when it happens, you don’t feel quite as tweaked out. BTW, I’m posting this response instead of emailing because I am notoriously bad at keeping up with email conversations. Come to think of it, I’m pretty lousy at keeping up with newsgroup posts, too. Anyway. Welcome. Post early and often. swiv
Nonsense! it doesn’t matter how much drugs you used to take, it has absolutely no bearing on your current gurmble nafraas. Scary feeling, whatever the cause. But it helps to talk about it, and learn more about it, so when it happens, you don’t feel quite as tweaked out.
Depersonalization disorder is relatively new stuff, too, so the more people whom you discuss it with, the more you are liable to find out that hasn’t made it into books and articles. Hi a, swiv and helen (oh and hi to whole ng) This LSD comment made me laugh out loud. I thought for years that I was having LSD flashbacks and the few professionals I spoke to seemed to think so too. I’m fairly sure that’s not the case with me 8). – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -weird denial stuff… i have been told my my psychologist that i have a dissociative disorder. it is depersonliztion disorder. my question is does anyone on the list have this condition and would you be willing to e-mail me and talk about it. Lot of it around, I guess 8). Actually, I don’t usually have much to say about drugs in the group, because, by and large (as in large amounts) I have had good, positive, enjoyable experiences with drugs. But everybodys’ mileage varies. My brother, who is now about as four-square a citizen as you might want to meet, used to be a biker and took LSD EVERY DAY for a solid year! I feared we would have catch his brain in a bucket and pour it back in through his ear. But there seemed/seems to be no particular lingering effects. Scary feeling, whatever the cause. I, too, am relatively unscathed. some lack of judgement but i think more due to dissociaiton already in place rather than drugs at the time.
