Question:
Hi, I’m doing a paper for mental health and the subject I have chosen is the experience of living with PTSD, particularly, torture. Is there anyone out there willing to talk about their experience ?
Response:
Nothing like being a guineau pig for somebody’s term paper. Luanne
Response:
Eileen: I told him to hike his butt to the nearest VA Hospital and talk to some of the Vets there. He says he wants to learn empathy, so as somebody stated, he will have to go through some of what we have in order to empathize. Luanne
Response:
Carl: Take your butt down to the local VA Hospital and talk to some of the Vets about their Vietnam experiences. Don’t bother us on here. Luanne

IMHO , when asking for someone to share this type of information with you, your creditials, school, course, and instructor with contact information be displayed as well. Eileen
Response:
I dunno, but this really pisses me off. A "term" paper is OK, you can read books about it. That is fine. But to ask someone to relay their experiences to you is a very serious matter. Carl, you just have no idea what you are asking. And another thing. Speaking for myself, YOU MAY NOT USE ANYTHING I POST HERE IN YOUR TERM PAPER. People can speak freely here cause it is confidential… both in anonymity and personnal. I never speak to others what I read here. And you better not relay to others what you see here too. This is real life bud, not the class room. -eric > >Anyone out there Hi, I’m doing a paper for mental health and the subject >I > have > >chosen is the experience of living with PTSD, particularly, torture. Yo! Perhaps the student was a bit immature or whatever: I’d have told them about 1. Amnesty International They have a program for such individuals. They would likely help; as if a therapist is trained in this area they will be valuable. If y’all keep attacking everyone here, well, you have each other but that is not very facilitative. Yes, it sort of ticked me off but: He may not know what he asks but we can educate! Take sour garpes and make sweet wine! I do not have the original post but perhaps they will come back! I think we all scared the shit out of him, Eric. I hope he stays away from here!! Luanne

Luanne My point to this person, and hopefully anyone reading the ng, was that when requesting information of this type you just don’t jump in head first. There has been a number of request for information over the past year, many times asked for in a more empathic way. Regardless of how it is asked for, creditials and outside contact information should aways be giving. And if they are writing for publication the name and editor should be giving as well.If someone in the ng happens to fit the discription of what the person is asking for, the temptation to jump in can be great. I felt it worthwhile to remind all. Eileen
