Question:
Jesse, In my opinion your doctor is a quack. While I think trying everything is the sign of a good doctor, trying everything all at once is the sign of a doctor who is a know-nothing. God only knows what this pharmaceutical cocktail will do to you in the long run. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -Jesse E. wrote: > x-no-archive:yes > I was on Paxil and Risperdal and it didn’t work. > Actually made me worse. > I have been on Prozac and BuSpar for > 3 months. Response:
Jesse, I’m on Wellbutrin, Remeron, Buspar, Ativan, Zyprexa, Ultram, Soma, Naprosyn, Axid, Levoxyl, and Mellaril. After 25 years of suffering from Major Depression, I have finally stablized for the last year. I would not say my psychiatrist is a "quack" and a "Know-Nothing". I was not loaded up with all of these meds in 1 night or 1 week. I was under my doctor’s care for a year as well as an oupatient program as he started adding medications to treat different problems (PTSD, Major Depression, chronic pain). He very carefully added meds at very low doses until my symptoms diminished. Having tried unsuccessful trials of individual anti-depressants with no relief, my other option was to spend the rest of my life going through eletroshock therapy every week and becoming a mental zombie. I’ve been stablized for an entire year (a first) and have been able to reassume many responsibilities that were heretofore impossible for me to accomplish (like paying my own bills). I’ve also recently returned to school and am working toward a college degree. ABC – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -Trauma wrote: > Jesse, > In my opinion your doctor is a quack. What does the Depakote do in the equation? Just wondering, thx…
Response:
Have you noticed any results from taking Ultram. My neurosurgeon prescribed it specifically for sciatic pain, but the only effect I have is slight nausea. It was not all added at once in my case either. It has been one at a time over a period of months. The Ativan is just if I can’t sleep. Since adding Depokate I have slowly weaned off BuSpar. Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I also was prescribed Ultram for sciatic pain. It did almost nothing for the pain, but after being on Ultram for about 2 days I noticed a definite increase in anxiety. It was so bad that my boyfriend demanded that I stop taking it, which I did, since it did nothing for the pain anyway. Perhaps it will be different for you, but that’s my experience.
