Unfortunately, I completely agree. > For instance: > From experience I know that in time there will peace. But right now I > know that I need help. > I’m off to the doctor real soon.

Be warned Nancy….. if this is the same pugsley (and I’m sure it is. pugs…@hotmail.com?) as I know, he is a well known liar and a fraud. He claims he was a POW during the Vietnam war. Got captured and was tortured for 2-3 days (depending on when he tells the story) before they ‘realised’ he was a New Zealander civvie and let him go!! He later admitted to me on the n’g that he had lied. The other story he is telling at the moment is that he was captured, his g/f escaped and a rescue operation was mounted by the SAS to free him!! I have him killfiled. Don’t be sucked into his lies. — Peter Lucas Brisbane Australia ACHTUNG! ALLES LOOKENSPEEPERS! Das computermachine ist nicht fuer gefingerpoken und mittengrabben. Don’t put it off. A few years ago I was in a car wreck on the freeway. It was a big pileup, and all of us were hurt some, I had herniated disks in my neck and a concussion. Dang car was so small it didn’t matter I was wearing my seat belt, I whacked my head a good crack on the steering wheel anyway. Afterwards, I was afraid to drive. That’s silly, I thought, and gritted my teeth and drove anyway. Then I started to feel that "going down the rathole" feeling, so I called the therapist I had gone to years before for PTSD and said, hey, I think I need a booster shot. So I went in a few times, she did a round of EMDR and this thing that was new at the time called Thought Field, and after a few visits I was fine. So things can get back to what’s normal for you pretty quick if you hop on it before you get too messed up. At least it worked that way for me. Katherine

Thank you. First of all I would like to say contrary to Peter Lucas’s remarks, although I am no angel I am basically an honest person. Anybody can check that I am a registered nurse. Anyway, yep went to doc. Suggested attending rehab for a while to deal with latest trauma, which I shall do.

Yep Lucas is correct, I’m the same person, and I suffer PTSD. pugs…@hotmail.com is valid. Write to me and find out if you want. Anyway I had PTSD before it was a recognised disease in Australia and New Zealand. Before it was panic attacks, which was treated with vallum. True I was in Vietnam and a volunteer with Red Cross. That is old news. Mistakenly thinking that Lucas understood, I sent him a email, which he displayed on Usenet. True I was captured by VC. Wrong that it was 2-3 days. Like a pissing contest I guess I exaggerated time to Lucas. It was more like 24 hours. I was unconscious when rescued and medivaced out of SVN. PTSD not only from that incident. There were other incidents before. Pugsley. Bevan-John Kirkland

Just because you may believe that you have experienced less trauma than others, it does not mean the pain that you are feeling is any less. Also, just because there may be periods when you think you are cured it does not mean PTSD won’t return. For instance: I’m a nurse and just recently I witnessed a traumatic event at work. As a nurse I see a lot of trauma, however this particular event has triggered something deep inside me. I cannot relax, I am tearful & fearful, I cannot concentrate, and I want to sleep all the time. And although I have everything to live for, I think about not living. The feeling is similar to the feeling I had years ago when my mother was very sick. At the time I thought I was bullet proof and believed I could cure her. However after a month I experienced all the symptoms as described above. I feel like harming myself to make my pain ‘identifiable.’ But from experience with others I know that isn’t a solution. From experience I know that in time there will peace. But right now I know that I need help. I’m off to the doctor real soon. pugsley
