Question:
- Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Did the vet give him a diagnosis? Some dogs suffer from *separation anxiety* when their owners leave for work and the dogs are left alone. One of the symptoms is the dogs chew up the furniture, carpets, curtains, and make a big mess. Well these spots start off as a cut or scrape. Maybe it just itches. Funny you mention separation anxiety. These are brothers dogs, that I’ve been watching for almost 2 years now
They did have a rough time coming here. They were stuck in the New Jersey Airport for 4 days due to the cold weather in Boston. The first toe licking did start a month later. Hmmm never know, but doesn’t explain why he continues to do it. I had him longer than my brother
There’s 2 dogs, so he does have company. Tried everything from creams applied by the hour, licked it off. Taping up his foot, he ate it. Then the old dreaded funnel, still got at it. Finally the Prozac. Nothing works. Just takes time I guess, but as soon as one heals, he starts up another spot…. Have a good one Chip! KF…
My folks have a dog (Cocker Spaniel) with atopic (allergic) dermatitis and the dog is always scratching or licking (especially it’s paws). OTC Benadryl makes the itching go away, and consequently the scratching and licking. Check any treatments with your vet. Chip

This morning. IVD special diet dog food, venison and potato. (This dog and her irritatable intestines costs more to feed than one of my kids, I think! However, the food has worked like a charm for Daisy; no more twice-daily barf cleanup sessions or diarrhea. Are you glad you asked?) – Anne

I can’t remember…haven’t a clue what it was, maybe baked beans? It was so long ago, and I don’t really buy anything that comes in cans apart from beans or maybe sweetcorn sometimes. Vashti
