New, in a few ways..

Question:

Hi, I just found this newsgroup this evening and have spent the last few hours reading the threads and trying to get a feel for the place. I should most probably lurked a while, but it was reassuring for me to see that some of what I feel and think is mirrored in your posts. I have  PTSD, but for the most part, I can control the unexpected emotional and physical symptoms. What I’ve experienced in my life has turned me into a cautious person. Cautious with my contact with people, cautious in expressing myself, insular, suspicious, and always, always battling internally to remain calm. And with a stunning sense of self-abuse( I’m not sure I’m joking there), I made a horrendous marriage choice which I won’t go into because it would probably trigger a few people off. That’s me , in a nutshell. Ruth

Ruth;     Welcome to the group, and I hope you can find things that you can use to enhance your recovery.  We have a great group of people here, with as varied backgrounds as can be found probably anywhere.  I don’t suppose we are any substitute for professional therapy, but in a pinch, we can solve most any problems you may have :-)  If you don’t believe it, just ask.   Course, you may wish to remember that advice is usually worth exactly what you pay for it.  Thanks for being here.
