New Treatment for Personality Disorders

Question:

Hi. No, depression and psychosis are not personality disorders.  However, as a psych major who is currently taking a class on physiological psychology, and also as a person with DD, I did find this person’s post interesting. As a nurse working in a neurologist’s practice, she may not be up on the exact terminology.  Give her a break and perhaps help her find the correct terms. Cara of Sarah http://starbase.neosoft.com/~cara is nearing completion.  :)

Response:

I would like to share some information about several articles on a new treatment that I hope will be helpful to some.  I am a nurse working with a neurologist who found that many personality disorders such as depression, psychosis, ADDH, or mood swings may actually be related to a severe decrease of blood flow to the brain caused by vasospasms.  He has written several case studies on his patients with these symptoms, and documents the type of imaging testing used to determine if vasospasming is the cause, and the dramatic results he has with the use of vasodilators.  Many do show significant improvement within one month. This information is outlined in several articles written on Cerebral Vasospasm in Lifelines Medical Journals at MedForum.  The address is http://www.medforum.com, and should be free to gain a password and ID. Download these articles and share them with your doctor, he can decide if you would benifit from this therapy.  Feel free to e-mail me with any questions, or if there is any trouble gaining access to the articles.

depression is not a personality disorder but rather an affective disorder nor do psychosis, ADDH, or "mood swings" (bipolar?) constitute personality disorders He has written several case studies on his patients with these symptoms, and documents the type of imaging testing used to determine if vasospasming is the cause, and the dramatic results he has with the use of vasodilators.  Many do show significant improvement within one month.         Just wanted to add that A Dr. Elliot Barker (canada) recently told me that many doctors believe DID/MPD to actually be PTSD.  In fact, I posted his letter stating this. Mike mike
