New Face In An Old Crowd

Question:

Something about abuse makes you old, doesn’t it? I’m recovering from an abusive relationship in the recent past – one which dredged up memories of a rape experience when I was young. PSTD, mixed anxiety, mood disorders, severe depression…yada yada yada. Recently dropped off the Zoloft – it was causing entirely too much sleep time. But after a bad experience with Effexor – I think I’ll go ‘clean’ for a bit. My experience is still somewhat ongoing as litigation looms – it is, like many other stories within our group, a long and complicated litany of pain, shame and confusion. Anyway – I’ve been lurking for a while and thought I’d introduce myself. Catherine, 36, recovering from abuse, mother of 2. Please!!!!!  It gives you a certain degree of wisdom that sometimes others don’t gain.  I like that better. I’m recovering from an abusive relationship in the recent past – one which dredged up memories of a rape experience when I was young.

Sorry that happened.  Present day things have a way of coughing up things from the past. PSTD, mixed anxiety, mood disorders, severe depression…yada yada yada. Recently dropped off the Zoloft – it was causing entirely too much sleep time.

I’ve heard that. But after a bad experience with Effexor – I think I’ll go ‘clean’ for a bit.

Sometimes thats a good thing sometimes not, I guess it has to do with your chemical make up. My experience is still somewhat ongoing as litigation looms – it is, like many other stories within our group, a long and complicated litany of pain, shame and confusion.

I hope you feel comfortable enought to talk about it sometime. Anyway – I’ve been lurking for a while and thought I’d introduce myself. Catherine, 36, recovering from abuse, mother of 2. Retired professional.

Hey, it’s Rose again. I lived with PTSD for 30 years. have you done any trauma therapy? Rapid eye desensitizing is really effective. It worked for me and a lot of people, including the bumbling survivors of oklahoma city. 22 years ago when I was 19, my cousin was raped. I escaped out of the house, and went to the neighbor’s to called the police. The rapist was arrest while walking out of the house.  The cops had barricaded the entire street and we were waiting for him to walk out.  I was so enraged, I almost grabbed a gun from an office’s hand to try to shot the guy. It still makes me mad thinking about it now. you take care Rose – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Something about abuse makes you old, doesn’t it?
