Bill do you have any sources for the above, I belive Joeseph posted some for scans with pics about a month ago, I thought I bookmarked em but can’t find them….this stuff could be priceless for my lawsuit…hehehe – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->There is a protocol by a Dr Glen Law I published on the NG but received >hostile response mainly because a lot of folks are comfortable with >their illness and for many, they are presently too sick to work and the >protocol challenged their disability income, which is >understandable. This is very interesting and sounds logocal….it is a total 180 from what I keep hearing ….that you have to peel yourself apart like an onion re-experience the trauma so that you can properly process it and move on. This approach could also tend to put a lot of T’s out of work. A few weeks ago a Doc came on hear warning about taking it easy with EMDR and go slow with because there is a possibility that you could re-traumatize yourself. Then last week a T not mine told me that I should take a week off and just blast thru it to peel of tha layers of the oniion…..confusing…..anyone feel like a guinea pig. >Therefore, the recommendation is to be in a warm/temperate climate.
I love this…have you got this guys number? I’ve been wantin to do this for years maybe the beast the ultimate excuse…. HMmmmm Hobie Cat Rentals on the beach…thi sounds relaxin. >3) *NEVER* discuss your Trauma because the mental computer can’t tell >the difference between what’s real, what’s happening or what we’re >thinking. It will create a reality based on what is fed into it.
SOUNDS logical but again a 180 from the main stream T who suggest it is best to talk endlessly about it so it doesn’t eat you up rom the inside. >4) Spend time lying around in the sun every day. I love this guy,,,how bout building sand castles Thanks for running this again Bill…some sources would be much appreciated. James I am a beautiful work of art in progress – Me

Bill, I like what you have to say, keep talking. I’d rather hear about ways to understand and fight this thing than comparing scars, although comparing scars does a lot for emotional healing and is very important as well for people to feel connected and to feel that they are not alone in their expereinces. Yes, Bill. Keep talking. Keep talking so that she stops. I would much rather read your posts. Can’t figure out how to filter out the "PTSD-PH.D"!! Lu

Lu, What newsreader are you using? Are you stuck with the AOL reader, or can you use netscape, or outlook express? I don’t know about the AOL reader, but maybe there’s something in ‘help’, under ‘message filters’. Of course you can always call Tech support. I remember those people being very good at their jobs. (Question sent privately, response published on PTSD Newsgroup) I don’t pretend to be an authority on PTSD but rather, a student. I research various protocols and there are some interesting things in the works. It appears it’s possible for your mind to "rest" enough (that means being where there are no triggers) to have strength enough to deal with ‘milder’ assaults that life throws at us. Harvard, Dartmouth , U. of Hamburg and other major medical research labs are doing some interesting stuff as far as identifying PTSD. Because of the synaptic damage in the chemical/electrical function, they can "SEE" PTSD on an MRI, CAT scan and even sometimes an EEG. This certainly suggests progressive damage… what else could it mean? When talking with PTSD patients, they often say they are ‘better’ and usually it’s because they are in the HONEYMOON stage of a new Medication. They usually buy into the drug adjusting their neurotramitters because that’s what the doctor tells them. After that drug fails in a few months, they go onto another, then another. Some people do stabilize with drugs for long periods but look at the data and you’ll see they are not the majority. PTSD is being constantly upgraded in intensity. We live in a crazy world and our minds are not prepared for the onslaught of trauma. I’ve written in the past about various early Historians and their reference to things akin to PTSD so the "Beast’ is an old enemy. To reference your question, hell if I know! I do know that there is proof in the mind of most sufferers that this illness is progressive. I’ve listened on the Newsgroup for two years and I’ve heard that a few thousand times. This merges with research data. I also know it has been clearly progressive with myself… very dramatically so! There is a protocol by a Dr Glen Law I published on the NG but received hostile response mainly because a lot of folks are comfortable with their illness and for many, they are presently too sick to work and the protocol challenged their disability income, which is understandable. If I can locate it in my files, I’ll attach it to this letter. Never give up: Bill Old Post The whole approach by this Trauma Doctor is interesting, especially since he’s proving success. Instead of working through and bring up all the garbage, the concentration is on the current feelings and behavior. The idea is that if you "act as if you are a relaxed and calm" your sub conscious will receive those messages and record that you are really like that. Being a computer, since it has that impute, it begins to help us to really act and feel calm and relaxed. He realizes that you can’t do this in a confrontational environment. Therefore, the recommendation is to be in a warm/temperate climate. The fix requires several things, listed in order of importance: 1) Spend 3 hours daily growing fruits and vegetables for food. Make your garden highly nutritious and productive. Build a compost pile and study so you are able to produce incredible foods. 2) Breathe deeply from your diaphragm and move slowly except when you take a vigorous 45-minute walk daily. Keep your mind quiet. 3) *NEVER* discuss your Trauma because the mental computer can’t tell the difference between what’s real, what’s happening or what we’re thinking. It will create a reality based on what is fed into it. Group therapy, beyond the initial "clearing", is a behavior that restates and relives the Trauma over and over, reinforcing the inner computer to maintain behaviors and feeling consistent with the constant recycled input. 4) Spend time lying around in the sun every day. Tearing long foliage into little strips or other meaningless activity is good during this time. Refuse damaging thinking and if you can’t at first, get busy shoveling dirt from one place to another. The activity doesn’t require purpose, just do it! 5) Do one or two interesting activities. Fishing is the best from all feedback from both men and women. It produces food and is a fun activity that occupies your frontal mind. We respond to beauty and generally fishing areas are attractive. Snorkeling and/or shallow diving for fish or crustaceans (especially where beautiful reefs exist) is highly desired. 6) IF STRESS wells up,* DON’T THINK ABOUT IT* but go for a vigorous second or third walk and concentrate on what you see that’s beautiful. If you *THINK* on your Trauma it’s like feeding a tiger… it get stronger. 7) Eat highly nutritious vegetables and fruits and simple proteins. Don’t eat more than 20% carbohydrates. Learn about and take broad spectrum nutritional supplements.
If possible, move to a warm/temperate climate but adjust as much as possible your actions, but your *THINKING* is most critical. The point of these adjustments, especially the "ACT AS IF" even when we feel like reliving our Trauma, is to re-train our subconcious mind. If we tell ourselves that we are in distress, we will indeed be in distress as a self fulfilling behavior. After several weeks of SUCCESSFUL reprogramming of the inner computer, the *ACT AS IF* begins to function as a reality and thoughts and behaviors are altered. This is not magic and does not end all Trauma Stress but close adherence to this program will greatly reduce symptoms to a level of tolerance.
