Hi ya helski, If you’re really quiet, I’ll let you sneak up and take a peek too! I hear they wear nothing under them kilts! hehehehe:-) Sounds like this is going to be a fun scouting mission, so glad as they are usually quite stressful. Imagine having a group like this to ’scout with’ instead of all on our own. I will wear my toe rings and big sunglasses. How are ya doin helski?? td Hi Tiny, Yes the whole mind-set and prep involved for a scouting mission is exhausting and anxiety ridden. Hey that is why we do them to alleviate such awful feelings isn’t it? I am on crutches full time again due to stump ulceration gone wrong so maybe we could deploy a donkey or some creature to carry me…i dunno all this kilt talk has my mind up in the Highlands trekking the green tracks or should I be in the Lowlands???har har Helski Thanks for asking Tiny! What about you?
Response:
Tiny, the important thing to do is not to be in front or back but to know which way the wind is blowing:) JohnDe

Hey guys, I think a celebration for the ‘event’ is in order, perhaps a picnic lunch?? Hannah is in charge of the ‘wienies’ and helski, I dub you ‘wine woman’………I’ll bring the glasses. This is beginning to shape up as quite an event, perhaps ticket sales are in order?? td

Oh helski, I’m sorry to hear you are in pain once again. Don’t worry……I’ll get you there if I have to carry you myself! No way will you miss the celebration, besides…..we are one for all and all for one. Highlands or Lowlands…….hmmm, I think you’ll have to ask John De which it will be?? ;-) I think he’ll be up for the event, don’t you?? ;-)) Ah, we are a naughty bunch, aren’t we? Can you imagine if we all lived near to each other…….I think we could get into lots of ‘trouble’ together……..hannah, helski, tiny…..and I’ll bet you a little kat would want to join in too……… You take care helski, rest yourself as much as you can. How’s your voice coming along? If you’re up to it, sing one for all of us………I like to think of you singing a special song with all of us in mind, sort of like ‘our song’…….don’t know what it would be, I’ll leave that up to you, since you’re the professional. :-) Love, tiny dancer – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> Thanks for asking Tiny! > What about you?

Hi Jeannie, If where you’ll be going and the size of the campus is one of your primary concerns, by all means I think it’s great if you can go there Thursday. My congratulations also on continuing on to university. Sometimes new places/situations are scary. What I’ve found helps me at times is to look at some situations as a positive adventure, more of an exploration into the possible joys that may present themselves rather than a daunting venture into the unknown. Hi Nancy, I now understand why I’ve always gone on "scouting" missions prior to having to go strange places. I didn’t know anyone else did it also
Wishing you both well, Z55

IMO this is the wonderfulness of this ng. We can all learn that our ‘unusual’ behaviors are completely normal … for us with PTSD.
Smile and there will be something to smile about! Nancy

Me too an old scouter!! Sometimes I do not scout physically tho.I do it by means of other types of research like asking people who have been there or thru the web etc. helski

Hi all, ( again) I finally figured it out, after much stress. Today has been one of those days where I seem to get overwhelmed at the smallest hint of stress. Or no stressors at all. Right now, it seems like I have a full week planned, but the thing that is bothering me the most is knowing I have to go to the university for orientation and registration this Friday. They sent out the directions and a map of the college and it is huge. A lot bigger than the 2 year college I just finished. I have decided to drive up on Thursday to familiarize myself witht he surroundings and aat least have a little knowledge of where I am at. It really will be a huge change for me and even though it is a positive change it is still scarry. Everyone have a great day Jeannie
Response:
Hi JEANNIE! > I have decided to drive up on Thursday to familiarize myself witht he > surroundings and aat least have a little knowledge of where I am at.
Investigating where we are, more than other folks, is completely normal for those of us with PTSD. I used to be concerned that I needed to know how to get out of a motel room, or where the stairs are in a multi-story building. No one else I knew worried about what driving lane to be in at least 2 miles ahead of the turn-off. Good luck in orientation.
I’ve found that these are typical survival skills from PTSD. Smile and there will be something to smile about! Nancy
Response:
Hi Nancy, I laughed out loud when I read >No one else I knew worried about what driving lane to be in at least 2 miles >ahead of the turn-off.
I laughed because I am exactly the same way. Always on guard when driving and know who is behind me and who is in front. Can even see a car pulling out miles away. He he. >Good luck in orientation.
Thanks, I am driving up tommorrow with my son and checking the situation out. That will help me feel more in control. >I’ve found that these are typical survival skills from PTSD.
Yes I agree totally and have found out, some times I can use these survival skills to my advantage. I mean, heck those of us with ptsd who drive must be the most vigiliant drivers on the road. Jeannie
