I presume that you are talking about the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon today. As I am experiencing all the flashbacks from the 1960s when Kennedy was killed and then when I was sitting in Okinawa as Tet was becoming reality, I presume that others on this ng are too. I’ve spent too much time with these reactions and am going hosta-ing.  I would like to suggest that we all concentrate on something other than watching the TV news. Smile and there will be something to smile about! Nancy

Response:

Nancy, I’m staying home for at least the next few days. Not even sure if the VA Hospital is even open now. I think it would be a good thing for all of us to stay away from anything that could be both a trigger or danger otherwise. I’m very afraid that this is just the start. Larry L. All I could think of as I saw the shock, terror and dazed expressions on the people, police and fireman was HERE ARE HUNDREDS OF NEW PTSD SUFFERERS. God help them and our country. Kristine If natural energy and impulses are too severely suppressed for too long, they become violent. It’s natural for something that’s been held under pressure to become violent in its release…Jim Morrison

One of my co-workers has family in New York City. It’s been a very trying day for her. All we can do is hope. It’s been difficult or impossible to get through on phones–landlines or cell. I have friends near Pittsburgh. I was able to reach them finally around 1:30 this afternoon. They are all safe, though somewhat shaken up. I also have a sibling in New Jersey, not far from New York. I haven’t been in contact with any of my family in several years. I told them all I moved to New York a few years ago because going into hiding was the only way I could be safe from them. I can only wonder what must be going through their minds today. A small part of me wants to be able to call someone and tell them I’m okay, but I can’t if I want to stay safe. This is a consequence of their previous bad behavior, but it still makes me feel ill. I hope everyone is able to find some safety and peace tonight. Risa

Hi Larry! > Nancy, I’m staying home for at least the next few days.

In the middle of all this, I was called back to IL.  I’ll be off the ng for at least a week.  Don’t worry about my heading East to the Atlantic Coast. :/ > Not even sure if the VA Hospital is even open now.

The pharmacy was this morning about 0930 EST here, but who knows about later.  I figured they had enough problems with folks being triggered more than I was.  I never made it out the door to hosta-ing; I fell asleep trying to belly breathe.  This shallow breathing is just making me worse. > I think it would be a good thing for all of us > to stay away from anything that could be both a trigger or danger

otherwise. I surely wish I could … IL is one of my bigger triggers.  And, if I encounter defensive roadblocks along the way … > I’m very afraid that this is just the start.

I hope it’s the beginning of the end of this long war of religious terrorism we’ve been experiencing all over the world for the last 50 years. Smile and there will be something to smile about! Nancy
