Question:
Hello everyone, I have never posted to this group, but I did have a question. I was diagnosed with complex PTSD and depression. The psychiatrist also said my memory is fragmented. I have had really weird sleeping patterns recently, and I have blacked out a couple of times. I have also woken up without remembering details of getting there, but I stay around my house more often than not anyway. My question is, how long does it take for a fragmented personality to show symptoms?

Yo James. Symptoms of what? Or did you mean, "How long does it take to show symptoms that there ‘is’ a fragmented personality?",? If we had to answer that on a questionaire post-dx we would say the evidence was always there but no one ever recognized it because *it* (we) looked sooo much like herrrrrr and we were still closely knit to herrrr. and it aint no fun being uncovered./ she took the blame before now too many know who sorry, this post is d=done. delayzied – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Hello everyone, I have never posted to this group, but I did have a question. Response:
yeah, i’ll go along with Beauts and Dayzz – I hid it that i was more’n one part fer a long time. felt like somethin i had to do to survive. started feelin safe er somethin round here, and one of the kids switched in so’s we couldn’t pertend anymore, and it’s been insane (heh) round here since then. but way good. lotta progress been made. After we figgered out the dx last year, we found big caches of memories labelled …um…drat, would hafta switch to find the word. well, labelled something that means "we have no friggin clue what happened here. it totally doesn’t make sense, and if we thought about it we’d realize we’re insane." but "being crazy" was a huge trigger for us, so we had to suppress anything that remotely implied that we *were* crazy (by my definition I’m insane. But I’ve learned that there’re *much* worse things in life – i’ve learned that I’ve been like this for a long time, there’s no shame attached to it, it’s not my fault, and i can function and learn to be happy and still be crazy by my definition(which is "out of touch with reality"). ) by the way, Hi, James. Nice ta meet ya. I’m sposta say that we actually can be grammaticly cerrect n spell right n stuff, but that part’a me’s on vacation. :) <– I’m not grinnin there, I’m barin my teeth.

Hello James – I am not sure I fully understand your question, but I would agree with what I understand Dayzie to be saying – or at least something like what I think she is saying. I think, and maybe it’s different for different people, but I think it’s likely that it is more a question of when the symptoms begin to be recognized and/or problematic than when they actually occur. The more I understand about how my system works, the more examples I see of dissociation and multiplicity in my own life. It isn’t all bad, by the way. Hi Dayzie Dayz, Now I get to say hi to you. Hi. I think everyone is different but you have made an important observation. I was going to say more, but everyone (the outsiders who live in the house with me) is being too distracting and I will only make a mess of anything I try to write. But it suffices to say that you prompted me to think about this in a new way. Thanks, Peter

Hello, I do use drugs on a somewhat regular basis, but they are only prescription drugs. I have neuropathy and other conditions that are deteriorating my health. I had the strange "blackouts" before I began using the pain medications. I had an experience where I saw myself sitting on the stairs, and I was floating above myself at age 7. I also had hallucinations when I was younger, etc all before I began using pain medication. In fact, I didn’t use any pain medication until two years ago, and I am very close to 18. I have had several diagnostic scans of my brain, and there isn’t any sign of schizophrenia from what the doctors said. I have heart problems, etc also. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Hello James, Hello everyone, I have never posted to this group, but I did have a question. I realize the shrink already dx’d you as having PTSD and depression … I’d like to ask, even though the shrink you saw prolly already did …. Do you use any mind-altering substances? Alcohol? Legal or illicit drugs? If yes, I think this would be a good thing to cease doing as it may be the cause of your altered sleeping patterns and blackouts. Oh and one last thing, afaik, not all ppl with a fragmented memory also have a fragmented personality. Just thought I’d throw that in just in case you might be thinking such. SofT
