There are people out there in successful and very loving relationships and the PTSD is simply a part of the relationship. It is part of my life and my wonderful husband has actually helped me to move along and progress in healing and developing ways to deal with the PTSD fallout, symptoms and hellish garbage that can come with it. I am sorry to hear of your relationship situation but thought I’d give a bit of encouragement that PTSD isn’t a relationship death sentence =) It takes a special person to have a relationship with someone having PTSD…finding them is true treasure! Kristine

Response:

sorry Risa I didn’t see the last part of your message about your handy palm pilot thanks for the info.  Don’t forget though that drugs affect everyone differently.  Look at birth control side effects, it goes on for days. I won’t touch that crap. Besides I kicked my boyfriend out so many times that yesterday I asked for my keys back and he didn’t even say goodbye when usually in all his other relationships in life, he can’t let go of the people and has to stay in their lives somehow. Because of the way I am, he obviously doesn’t care to talk to me again.  Now that I’ve gotten to know myself better, I don’t think there is a man out there for me. I’m very much alone now and it’s just as well. Damn PTSD. He actually likes someone 20 years older than me better than me. That makes her a senior citizen!  Wow, how insulting is that?  It’s not my appearance they hate, it’s my not being able to trust them and I question them and drive them crazy.  So this one would rather be with a senior citizen gal than me. That really hurts…and PTSD really bites. "summergal" <vze34…@verizon.net> wrote in message

ooh. I use Trazodone; it was prescribed to me years ago as an antidepressant but that was turned to being used as a sleeping pill. It works. Sadly they think I’m addicted so cut off my prescription; I now only take them when I actually have something to wake up for the next day. :p Loner <sea…@icehouse.net> wrote in message

I know…so did the doctor that originally prescribed it to me…maybe I’m just doomed to end up at the world’s stupidest doctors? Or by coincidence they all ended up in New Jersey somehow on their own… gawd I need to move…  You laugh because I’m different; I laugh because you’re all the same. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text –

Risa are you a pharmacist or something? where do you get your information? well I am addicted to Xanax on the lowest dose but I’ve been taking it over 5 years and never abused it, but my body requires it now or if I don’t take it I get sick real fast and then it’s downhill from there. Hi Janna >The benzos make my nightmares worse, but I can get some sleep with them.

Janna Interesting to know.I’ve not heard anybody else report this side effect!!Thanx for letting me know. Don’t you feel the nightmare  filled sleep is not restful enough.? I wake up so often with so much adrenaline coursing through me a couple of times maybe severel times a night  which in turn triggers anxiety and panic. How about you? So therefore I wake up looking and feeling pastey and dark circled under the eyes and washed out.Like I am detached.Half the time i then drag myself off to work teaching kids with learning difficulties. helski

Response:

Hi Janna, I use Clonazepam, (generic name: Klonopin) a mild time released benzo for P.T.S.D. 1mg tab QID.  It helps without the ‘high’ feeling but does little for my 20 years in EMS ‘dreams’. http://www.druginfonet.com/klonopin.htm. My psych doc put me on Trazadone http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/traz.htm for the nightmares.  It doesn’t stop them, BUT makes going back to sleep after a ’screamer’ MUCH easier. Run it by your doc and get some feedback. Hoped that helped. Regards, Loner — Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Hi Risa Thankyou so much for passing that info onto me about the various combos of prescribed drugs you find useful. I cannot tell u how invaluable it has been! More later! Helski

Response:

Helski, Risa was referring to -Ambien is available here (Oz) as trade brand Stilnox. I started using it last year especially when I couldn’t get much sleep after a few nights when flashbacks etc intruded once again in my sleep. It works, and acts very fast so have bed close. I find the next night I don’t take it I wake up several times during the night. I find this drug seems to reset my ??mood or ?? thoughts so I am calmer after using it. It is supposed to be non-addictive nor is it a restricted drug like Rohypnol. My pain meds give me nightmares if I take them too close to bedtime. I have to be VERY desperate for pain relief to take one at bedtime, and even then, I’ll usually take only a
