Question:
Hi An! Wow! You went through worse things than I did. I feel so bad for you. I was also abused by other people too, but definitely not like when I was raped. I guess I thought I’d die too, but more from embarrassment and that’s why I never told anyone about the rape, except years later. It’s so hard to get over this. Sometimes I feel like I have and other times I have nightmares about it, or I get so angry I could cry! I’ll be back. Thanks! Hi Cloud Dreamer! I wish I could chat there, but it makes me so nervous with all the people talking. I can only chat one on one pretty much, then I don’t get that nervous. Yes, there are a lot of posters at ASAP and they are so supportive. At first, I was very overwhelmed by it, but now I’m used to it. This NG seems to be very good too. I’ll try to come back more often. Please take care and thanks! Hi Diane! Welcome to our little group. I’m sorry that you qualify, no matter what your trauma. My son had good results with EMDR. My therapist said that I was not a good candidate for EMDR, so I have no personal experience. Smile and there will be something to smile about! Nancy

Thanks a lot Cloud Dreamer! I really appreciate any responses at all. I’m sure I’ll be back here with questions, and I hope I can give some support too. I belong to another NG, ASAP, and it takes a lot of my time, but I love everyone there. I certainly won’t ignore you guys, though, especially because we’re all in the same boat. Take care! Hi Nancy! Yes, I’m sorry that we all qualify here. Thanks for replying. I’m so glad that your son had good results with EMDR. I’m waiting for a list by mail of doctors in my area. I hope I can get some relief from this. I belong to ASAP, another NG where there are so many supportive people. This group seems very supportive too. It’s a shame you didn’t qualify for EMDR. I may not either or I may be too scared to go through with it. Anyway, I have a really good Therapist, Ray, right now and we’re going to try CBT. I hope it works. I’d love to get off of meds and, hopefully, get back to working. Take care! Di – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -"Nancy" <ki…@cris.com> wrote: >Hi Diane! >Welcome to our little group. How come? What makes a person a good candidate (or not)? "I started to accept the mess I’m in. I know that mess spelled backwards is ssem, and I felt much better armed with that information. " – Tori Amos

Diane, I know ASAP well but find there are too many posts to keep up with it but I chat on #anx/pan every night. This NG is alot quieter than ASAP and while you won’t get the tons of responses you might get at ASAP, you can focus on the PTSD here. . P.S. If you have visited the chat room you would know me as Chech.

I don’t know. Maybe someone else has some idea or there is a web page stating the criteria for ‘good candidates’. I never asked why as I wasn’t prepared to deal with any possible answer. I figure that the less technical stuff I know the better off I am. I guess it’s my little attempt to reduce my hypervigilance. I do know that a fool hires himself for lawyer and for a doctor. I’ve seen lawyers make horrible mistakes (and won a lawsuit against one
when acting pro se. I’ve seen doctors make mistakes because they became too emotionally involved with their patient(s); that’s why they usually do not treat relatives etc. (except in emergencies). I think it is my job to be the patient. :/ Smile and there will be something to smile about! Nancy

Hi Diane, You are in the right place. It may take a day or two for a response to be posted (or sometimes minutes!), but you’re sure to get alot of good advice to any questions or stories you want to tell. Feel free to ask anything you like. There’s nothing like finding out that you are not alone. . – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -Diane <brinckerhoffdNObrS…@cs.com.invalid> wrote: >Hi! >I posted yesterday about having PTSD (rape) and maybe I’m not in >the right newsgroup.
