Question:
Hi, I think it would be a great idea if people did not take it upon themselves to diagnose each other on this ng. Firstly it is not*kosher* in my books and offends me as well as that it can be a trigger for many people. I think the whole diagnosis trip through peoples’ posts and email is high handed! Not qualifed= do not do it please!!!!!!!!! Helski
Response:
Thank you Helski I really wasn’t sure how to word it and you have done so beautifully on my behalf. Much appreciated

I am sorry if I overstepped the bounds of the ng. I just felt if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck and walks like a duck then it is a duck. I won’t do this again. Sorry to all. Margaret

I’m not offended Margaret. You had pretty much expressed my thoughts. I don’t think expressing an opinion is a bad thing. It’s not a diagnosis unless you’re qualified to diagnose. You keep on expressing your opinions. Risa Time is money, money is the root of all evil, and knowledge is power. Therefore, procrastination is the key to world peace.

Hi Barb ! It’s great to see some ockers here !
, Love it! I think there will always be humorous banter between us residents on both sides of the big Moat. But that is one thing Kiwis and ozzies seem to all enjoy, good ol’ fashioned ribbing and humour. I love humour but NG’s can be so serious sometimes. I’ll tell you what tho’, my experience is this, Ozzies make some of the best banter/sparring partners and they also make some of the best Mates.

I gave Ron a second chance incase his earlier blowup was a one off. It wasn’t. Ron has more going on than PTSD, I checked the DSM IV that I have, and he does not fit PTSD so much, but rather Borderline and Narcissistic Personality Disorders, based on his posts. I have killfiled him as there does not seem to be a way to reason with him, caused no doubt by the above. Ron can seem to be a wonderful helpful person and later become very abusive. Margaret

It all started, I think, when I, ticked off because I had just had my cast off for 24 hours with a clean bill of health from the doctor, twisted (at least) the same ankle and put the **** cast back on and then made a snippy remark in response to Rick’s asking if Morine liked exercise. Thanks To date you have given me no particular cause to think otherwise. For now, we are not / have not been sensitised to each other, therfor I have no reason to think your comment anything other than playful. Morine

This thread is funny. In all seriousness though I was just reading the "Physician and Sports Medicine" journal that obsessive exercising does *not* have any pathological mental consequences. Bummer, another excuse down the drain. ; ) Huffing and Puffing, Margaret

Well that is indeed quite possible gauging the ‘OCD’ that surrounds Ron’s postings seems there is some obsession surrounding ‘Ron’ and his / her posting activities. I would like to take this time to point out that it is likely the group and ‘Ron’ have become ’sensitised’ to each other. Perhaps because of that sensitisation and triggering nothing that either party says can now ammend the rift? Just taking a new tack
Oh by the way I think Obsessive isn’t so bad perhaps it arises from passion? If one is passionate about life, learning and living then that is all good eh?

yes yes what fun ! some of the most interesting people i have met are both passionate and obsessive about what they do. in some passion and obsession perhaps inspires greatness in their field of endeavour, in others it merely confuses and unsettles them.
oh what fun !! Morine

oooh how quickly that querey inspired a response. I thank you for your quick response to that particular querey and also note how much else goes untouched. Easy to determine the *level* upon which ng’s operate, by what the participants choose to answer and what they don’t answer. I guess us kiwis, being raised in the historically great rugby nation that it has been, are socialised to *tackle* all manner of things in manner that hopefully inspires thought (if not response) in others.
