Thanks…first post in a long time….I posted here months ago but still have the same problems of anxiety/depression/phobia’s. I remember you from my lurking days in asd. Haven’t yet posted there, but am thinking of making a lateral move. Depression is not the specialty of the house, so to speak, but some of us here in ASAP are familiar with the combo of depression, anxiety and agoraphobia — myself as an example. So, you’re a Sagitarrius? Care for astrology? Well, whether you do or not, there is a thread running around here about Sun Signs, so maybe, on your birthday, you might find it of interest (then again, maybe not!) I’ve gotta run, Sunfire, as I posted my *good night* post two hours ago! But would like to see you show up again. Thanks Blue…..yes ASD is my home now. I have…for the first time in my life…got the anxiety part somewhat under control….thanks to Paxil. I still have my bouts with it but its not as bad as it was. I will take a trip in here now and then and feel free to drop in my home anytime you want. You’re always welcome . Happy b.day Sun! Out of all the people who recently replied to the month they were born, 6 were born in Decemeber under the fire sign. Another 3 were born in July ( also fire sign) and only 3 were other. Kathi who is celebrating on Thursday

Actually, ASAP was born from ASD about four years ago (July, 1994). Back then, most anxiety folks ended up in ASD for one reason or another, and after a while the anxiety contingent of ASD decided to form ASAP (including Gary Cooper and other founding members). I first discovered ASAP about a few months after it was created, and no other source has helped me more with my panic disorder. ASAP has since spawned at least two other groups that I know of; namely alt.recovery.panic-anxiety.self-help (ARPASH) and more recently alt.support.agoraphobia (ASA). I’m not sure of the history behind other groups such as alt.support.ocd and alt.support.trauma-PTSD. Best Wishes, Arthur

IME the two subjects are often connected. I’m also told that a lot of booze can help, but I doubt that they make enough to help me. So I’ve decided, using lateral thinking, to deal with the problem by regressing! At the current rate I expect to be 5y.o again about next August. ;-) Ian PS: Now I’ll sit back and watch all the usual smart comments, from all the usual suspects. I wonder who will be the first…..!

I try to forget as many birthday’s as possible
awwww…that’s no good!! It’s YOUR day – to make people fuss over you! They GOTTA they GOTTA! hee hee! Or if the family thing is lame for you (as it used to be for me) – go do something for yourself – even if you just rent one of your favorite movies and hole up in your room with a bowl of popcorn… Many times the very best company in the world is *you* – your own self. (You don’t have to dress up, be polite, or give in to someone else’s idea of a great night – and no fighting over the remote!) I loved the day I turned thirty (I’ll be 31 on Dec. 21st) – it meant I left behind all the bollocks and mistakes and bad memories of my twenties. I left it all back there and took that step forward. There are so many wonderful, symbolic ways to view your birthday – not the least of which is: There is no one else in the whole world like you. No one else can offer the world exactly what you can – even if a bit here and there isall you can manage right now – it’s okay. And on those days when you find it hard to see something special in yourself – look around at all the special people who love you.
