Question:
I am a newbie. Was diagnosed with ptsd just over a year ago. What are the guidelines in this group?
Response:
Rosarie, I am new here too, but I think we just have to hang a bit, and read some other posts and replies. The other ’self help’ groups I subscribe to say: to not tell people what to do. We can offer our personal experiences but telling someone what *will* work for them isn’t cool. I would like to read a FAQ on this group though. Does anyone have it? The only guidelines or FAQ that I have seen and that we seem to agree upon is the Golden Rule (do unto others … ) Other than that, we seem to be rule-less.

Thank you for giving me an idea how the ng is run. I don’t know if i’ll get up the courage to post anything, but i will certainly read others posts. My therapist wants me to start a journal. I cannot seem to write my feelings down. I just sit there and stare at the blank paper with these thoughts running through my head. Any ideas?

Hello rosarie, I was supressing all of my emotions and my therapist said that its time to feel everything. So for a while, when I felt angry, I was to FEEL angry. If I was sad, I was to FEEL sad etc…. I was also supposed to take a mental note of why I felt angry, sad, etc… Like who or what pissed me off, or why am I depressed right now… you get the picture. Maybe you can use that to realize the emotion, and then either write it down, or if you have a small recorder, maybe you can make tapes. Hope it helps peace -G. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -Rosarie555 wrote: > Thank you for giving me an idea how the ng is run. I’m basically new here also. Hell, we are all new here. We are also a unique bunch of people with various types of PTSD that need the comfort and support of others that understand that it does exists. Bring up the subject in one of the Veteran newsgroups and all the anti-war people jump out yelling it’s a cop out, an excuse, etc. Not here. I have not heard anyone trying to deny it does exists here in this newsgroup. Since there are many types of PTSD, people will just have to find others with the type they have and talk it out and maybe go email when it gets too personal. Friendships and support can be gleaned here, and it’s a proven fact that PTSD, although not curable, can be easier with support from others with it. I can see us now. A PTSD Convention in Las Vegas….. nobody would rent a Hall to us, and the casinos would bar us. We would have to go out into the desert in tents and live like campers and have a jolly great time. Hey, that don’t sound too damn bad. We could have support group meetings around campfires. Hmmmmm. Rosarie555 <rosarie…@aol.com> wrote in message

I’ve got my camper. I’m ready. But … could you pick a spot a little closer to Ohio?
