further to: need advice

Question:

Thanks Scott. yes I’m real proud of my kids, I have to have something to live for eh. Relationship with your partner sometimes gets real strained by this PTSD. Is that part of the healing process? One pushes away loved ones in the fierce determination to ?isolate conflict, ? show how you can handle things or ? I have re-evaluated my priorities.  How was your OCD conference. Emma thanks for your post re: dropt baby you may be right. The other newsgroup I suggested hasn’t had it posted yet and one would think….. it would be there by now if genuine. Thanks and take care Barb

Response:

Sorry all and thanks for the responses. I should have explained better the Dr. is encouraging a slow weaning process. I had been originally on a low dose < 10mg/day since January. This was to primarily reduce my hypervigilence and anxious state. I had an incredible startle reaction. I am also on Serzone (nefazadone) anti depressant with excellent PTSD results. I was finally able to sleep! Great news to share- my children have just competed in the Australian National Judo titles. My son, Robin (17) Silver medal Young Mens and Katreena Bronze medal 12 -13 years division. Roll on the Sydney 2000 Olympics although they will be too young for that one. I was able to handle the flights, the fights, the crazy taxi drivers and all that so I must be recovering! thanks Barb.

Dear Barb,         It is wonderful to hear that you are doing well. I was on Serzone for about a year. It’s a good drug, but it wasn’t quite strong enough for me. I still battled depression and s******** tendencies too often to be comfortable. I have changed anti-depressants to Effexor now and I am having far less episodes of depression. It has to be brought on by something pretty severe to get me down now. Otherwise, I take things in stride without depression. Now anxiety is another matter alltogether. I still have extreme startle responce and I am very, as they say, hypervigilant. I still face lots of therapy in the future and hopefully some better suited meds for my anxiety, migraines, and seizures.     I am so glad that you are doing well though. With a stable environment and the Serzone, hopefully your anxiety will just melt away with time and healing.     All the best to you,         Sandra BJ&GJC <cook…@primus.com.au> wrote in message
