Can Anyone define their chestpain??

Question:

Hi David,     Absolutely spot on my friend, I do exactly the same, go for a jog or run up and down stairs a few times in defiance! – always goes away, I am really glad we have this kind of support on this ng or my E.R would probably be getting more visits than it needs  L.O.L Take it easy David Painless days Barry – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Hey there, My chestpain is generally in the center of my chest, though sometimes on one side or the other…… I wondered if I was having a heart attack, but realized it was muscle tightness. I heard that if it is a heart attack it gets work with even moderate exercise, so I begin running in place or walking up stairs just to see what happens.  Usually the exercise actually makes it go away….. My 2 cents…. Oh, it would be nice to know if the exercise bit is accurate…… David

Response:

My pain is the same as Julie’s..  In the past 3 years, I’ve had 2 echocardiagrams, 4 EKG’ and a stress test. It still bothers me when i get chest pain.. It’s probably nothing, but I would get it checked out, to rule out any problems…. Brenda

a SEVERE fear of the smell of bleach

sodium hypochlorite which is what bleach is -is a toxic highly irritating chemical that when exposed to oxygen ie: room air releases chlorine gas a vaporized form of bleach-so breathing it causes both apoxia as it competes in your lungs for the same oxygen receptors as air does and irritates the membranes at the same time-at a high concentration it will kill you before you have symptoms of apoxia-well any way you can learn to desensitize to the smell over time carefully-the actual smell at low volumes of concentration is a clean one but your fear is justified if this were an industrial concentration-this stuff kills bacteria on contact by exploding its cell walls and preventing any gasses except chloride from passing through the walls thereby gassing the bugs to death…. now as for heart pain the things to watch out for are that same elephant sitting on your chest pressure pain in the jaw the left arm and nausea and vomting or a ba dba d case of heartburn-the pain of a myofarction is excruciating so you know it it isn’t subtle-there are some cases with very overweight patients and women where the actual pain in the chest is absent but pain radiating through the arms and jaw are present-over the age of 40 and got a feeling of intense pain and pressure go to an emergency room anyway-better safe then sorry-time is critical-but learn to differentiate soft tissue gas pains stress responses and the like from a heart attack. It is easier for me to know that it isn’t heart related when I have the pain in my chest for a couple of reasons…#1 I am asthmatic #2 I haven’t really dealt with going through thinking that there is a physical problem because my anxiety and panic troubles are related to PTSD and I KNOW the source of the trouble and it isn’t my health.  But I will tell you what I tell my therapist when I have an attack while we are having my ‘exposure’ treatments (my trauma was related to chemical fumes causing respiratory distress/asthma attack at work and I have developed a SEVERE fear of the smell of bleach since that was the chemical that started this all) anyhow…it is the same way I describe it after an attack.  There is this pressure in the center of my chest…I call it the elephant.  Feels like one is sitting on my chest. Not sharp pain, just a lot of pressure.  That is my experience with chest pains..I am not in the best shape of my life, but I am 29 and fairly healthy in general and since all of my problems have been so easy to identify, I don’t really do much worrying about physical ailments….just losing my mind completely some days.  LOL Robin/CItolu – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Hi Gang,         Baz the infamous lurker here, on my second day of meds today, Paxil 20mg and Propranolol 10mg, Had some chest pain in the past but today it is really awful, My chest pain is not all over the chest but in one focal place, slightly above and left (as you look) of my left nipple. It came on approx 1 hour after getting out of bed today and has persisted most of the day, I was anxious because I wanted to go to the gym and swimming today, so there I am thinking heart attacks etc, but then I thought damn it I will go to he gym and I dont care, so off I went for the first time in a while because as with depression I’d lost interest in all I once enjoyed! – Well the usual 4 mile run 2km rowing and 600m swim and I couldn’t believe how I managed it, the odd thought that my heart might explode at any minute – obviously not – so I was wondering if people would like to tell me of their chest pain (if indeed they suffer it) and if it is focal or more general?. Ps cant believe the difference 20mg of paxil, and a 10mg beta-blocker has made to my general well being. Thought I would never see another day when I would feel normal again. I must say the nausea was bad when I woke, but I expect that may reduce some soon? – well here I am ranting again, hope you all had a Great Day & an even better one tomorrow. Painless days Barry

Hi Barry, I guess it’s obvious your heart is ok, or else you wouldn’t be here posting to us. I have to tell you though, if I had done half of what you did in the gym today, I’d be hooked up to a heart monitor in some hospital getting the last rites. LOL!!  Seriously though, it sounds sort of like a pulled muscle or something, but I’m not a doctor.  When my anxiety was high, my chest pains were more in the middle of my chest and I felt breathless.  Is this pain a normal experience for you and have you told your doctor about it?  If you haven’t, I suggest you do and if you have and he’s checked you out, then I would suspect it’s just part of your anx/panic problem…nothing to worry about.  I was never on the meds you’re on, so can’t say anything about them. I hope you continue to feel good.  Keep us posted and let us know how things are going. Love, Rita Got questions?  Get answers over the phone at Keen.com. Up to 100 minutes free! http://www.keen.com

My chest pain would be a constant dull ache in the center. Then I would have a sharp burning and stabbing pain on my left side from back to front. I do not dwell on the chest pain since I had all the heart tests and my heart is fine. I am TRYING to focus on the positive things that I am doing, and TRYING to ignore all the physical symptoms that anxiety brings on. Of course a half of a tablet of Ativan always helps too!
