Question:

Hi everyone. I’m back online.  I owe many thanks to many people for helping me out.   There are some really awesome people in the world. Hope everyone is doing ok.  I missed you all. Something that may be of interest: My long lost sister who brought up the subject of the abuse in the eighties and wasn’t believed and treated badly by the foo wrote me back.   I found her addy online and chanced it that it may be her.  She is willing to help me with my gaps in memory if she can without "leading" me and she was glad to get my letter.  I was so afraid she hated me.   So I feel very good about that.  And she is much farther along in recovery than I, it seems.  She’s Dx’ed with DID, PTSD, depression and OCD.  I always wondered if she might be multiple.  She’s happy and settled with a partner of three years and her children and I’m so proud of her for letting go of the hate and anger to be able to rise above it.   I hope I can learn from my "little" sis.   Take care all, linda 2creus (RC did you have kidlette 2 yet?) — All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by frost. — Bilbo Baggins, Hobbit, Adventurer

Isn’t it freaky when little siblings turn out so wise? Mine is like that:) Take care all, linda 2creus (RC did you have kidlette 2 yet?)

Nope, not until the end of June. Can you believe I am 21 weeks preg and I have people still not able to tell!! I can’t figure it out! _I_ think I look preg, my SO thinks I look preg, my dr thinks I am right where I should be, but somehow I’m carrying the kid in some way so that people can’t tell. Weird! I need one of those shirts with the arrow pointing down that says ‘baby’ on it :) And it’s not like I’m big in other ways so that people just think I’m overweight or whatever… Rainbow Colors (Jill, who would be willing to increase my intake of food if it would help me look more preg:) —      The colors blend, the edges soften. RC/J,     Rub a good, vegetable-based, water soluble lotion into your belly a few times a day.  Slather it on and get lots of it absorbed into your skin. Also, break up vitamin e capsules and rub a bunch of that into your belly every day, too.  Use the natural mixed tocopherals (I may have spelled that wrong).  The acetate kind doesn’t absorb as well.  Also, when you see vitamin e in a lotion it is usually the acetate kind.  Anyway, you will greatly decrease and possibly eliminate stretch marks from the pregnancy if you do these things.     On the chocolate substance, from the book, _From Ch*c*late to M*rphine, Everything You N*ed to Know About Mind-Alt*ring Dr*gs_, by Andr*w W*il, MD , and Winifr*d Ros*n (e,e and e,e for the authors, you can certainly figure out the rest):         "Chocolate, which contains a lot of fat and is very bitter, must be mixed with sugar to make it palatable.  It, too, contains a stimulating drug, and cases of chocolate dependence are easy to find.  You probably know a few "chocoholics."  People who regularly consume chocolate or go on chocolate-eating binges may not realize they are involved with a drug, but their consumption usually follows the same sort of pattern as with coffee, tea, and cola drinks.     "Chocolate contains only a small amount of caffeine, but has a lot of theobromine, a close realtive with similar effects.  By itself, theobromine cannot account for all aspects of chocolate addiction, because chocolate addiction looks different from other forms of stimulant dependence.  Most chocoholics are women and many of them crave chocolate most intensely just before their menstrual periods.  Women who develop an addictive relationship with chocolate usually eat it in cyclic binges rather than continually and often  say it acts on them like an instant antidepressent.  As there is no reason to think that theobromine affects men and women differently, other components of chocolate must be involved.  Very little research has been done on chocolate, so no one knows for sure.     "Cacao was known to ancient Aztecs, who considered it a sacred plant and used it in religious rituals.  In moderation chocolate is a pleasant and interesting addition to the diet, but overus may not be wise, especially since the combination of sugar, fat, and drugs can be so habit-forming. People who tend to gain weight easily should be especially careful about their intake of chocolate."     I read in an old PDR that theobromine is isolated and/or synthesized as an ingredient in a mild anti-depressant that was prescribed for people who suffered depression in relationship to aging.     From web research:     Theobromine is the ingredient in chocolate that is toxic to dogs.  It is metabolized through their kidneys in such a way that relatively little chocolate can k*ll a dog, contrasted with the amount of caffeine that it takes to k*ll a human..     Theobromine is used in a variety of otc and prescription pharmaceuticals.  I think that most of them are for respiratory problems. Usually vasoconstrictors, such as ephedrine and pseudo-ephedrine (sudafed) are used for upper respiratory congestion, but theobromine and theophylline are bronchostimulators.  I mention theophylline below.     Theobromine is a xanthine, the same class of drug as caffeine.  It has about 1/20th the stimulant effect of caffeine.  A typical candy bar, chocolate, has about 20 mgs of caffeine.  An average cup of coffee has about 135 mgs.  Xanthines are vasodialators, among other things.  They can cause migraines because migraines occur when a blood vessel in the brain suddenly expands.     Chocolate also contains a chemical called phenylethylamine.  That one also causes blood vessels to expand and catalyzes migraines.  Chocolate consumption is often associated with migraines and people who suffer those headaches are urged not to partake of the stuff.     Another xanthine is theophylline, the main stimulant in tea — again, higher than caffeine.  It is also used in various otc and prescription drugs, primarily bronchostimulators.     Most xanthines, including theobromine, are smooth muscle relaxants, cardiostimulators, and diuretics. Okay…  Maybe I got carried away.  One of my hobbies is pharmaceuticals.  I think that it’s a leftover thing from junky days. My t is a major chocolate addict.  He keeps a big drawer and several containers in his office filled with various candy bars and little chocolates.  Often he gets a few fixes throughout a session.  And, much to my chagrin, he shares this affliction with a couple of the kids in me.     Back in the day when I used to menstruate, I used to get those cyclic cravings for chocolate, even though I otherwise didn’t like it.     Now, I think I will go have some ice cream with theobromine sauce over-top of it. trill p.s. all of this has been in response to the attached piece of a post from Rainbow Colors (Jill)

Yeah, I heard that about the chocolate this past month or so.  Made my son real happy and his father too, I’m sure.  They eat chocolate sundae’s with chocolate syrup and chocolate whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles or m&m’s or something on top.   I like chocolate too, but I dearly love my fruit flavors too and bryers vanilla.   Cinnamon roll huh?  homemade or store bought?   I’ll be over for a taste test just to be sure it’s safe. packing and dreaming of king kong fridge loaded down with freshly made cinnamon rolls, german chocolate and ? Now, I think I will go have some ice cream with     theobromine sauce over-top of it. trill p.s. all of this has been in response to the attached piece of a post from Rainbow Colors (Jill) <snip I carried kidlette hanging around my knees *grin* Every time I went in to see the midwife after about week 25 she would say ‘wow, are you carrying this kid low!’. This kid seems to be either a bit low or just about average in that respect which just seems high in relation to kidlette. My only annoyance with it all is that I’m going to have higher stretch marks this time. I _liked_ having such low down stretch marks last time, they would definitely be covered by anything but the tiniest bikini. (like I wear something like that!:) I’m just waiting for fritz to ‘fall’ and settle in to where kidlette was. Everything else about this preg is the same. an old wives tale but it was right for me and my friends. I think you eat pretty healthy (except for the chocolate of course) so a little more wouldn’t be out of line. Dr. Linda Harrumph! It is a proven fact that chocolate has something in it that raises serotonin in the brain which is good for relaxation and also something in it that helps fight heart disease, So there! Now, if you are talking about the _quantity_… I can state quite clearly that I only eat chocolate to excess once a year and that is for a worthy charitable cause. The rest of the time I ration it very carefully. I had a cinnamon roll for a snack today. Does that help? :) Rainbow Colors (Jill) —      The colors blend, the edges soften. Swirling and mixing                    we are becoming white light.

very late to say welcome back.  we all think you are extra lucky to have a sister and especially one who knows and understands what you feel.  sorry to be so long to say welcome home. b. and others — Memory is not enough. One needs a mythology, too. – Nasdijj

Hi b and others. Do you have any sisters?  I’m sorry if not.  I didn’t want to come off like I was bragging or anything.  I was just happy to find her and that she doesn’t hate me.  It’s been 26 yrs since she disappeared.  I have two other sisters too, but they’re in denial and we don’t talk. Yeah, she seemed like she’d been in treatment for quite a while for the DID etc. and now she’s not letting it run her life anymore.  That’s one I’d like to learn.  People who just say, "just do it" or "get out and do this that or the other thing" don’t help.  I turn them right off.  I’m glad it worked for them but it does’t help me.  She got into her recovery in the mid eighties when there were more programs and more awareness and less HMO’s than now.  But I’ll pick her brain for what ever I can learn from her.  I’ll post anything useful here. k? I tried to ICQ you before I was disconnected but it wasn’t you. *grin*   I don’t want to bother your son, with relaying messages, so I just will send you a "hi" every now and then.  Write if you want to talk.   take care, linda — All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by frost. — Bilbo Baggins, Hobbit, Adventurer
