I’m on Paxil 20mg daily, and it works. (10mg didn’t). Although I think I’m still suffering from the side effects (namely, asthenia and nervousness), it’s well….. okay. Works for me. I do hope it will for you, too…… DG

Ok I went to my family Doc today and she gave me something called Paxil ! Does anyone else take this and can someone tell me some experiances they have had with it ??? Like did it work for them or did it not ! And Im suffering from PTSD Will paxil help me ???? I thought it was for Panic Disorders ?? I know This is more then one question but Im sorry Thankyou to any one who can give me some info !!!!!! Diane
Paxil is an SSRI, in the same family as Prozac. It can be used for depression as well. I’m taking 20 mg a day, and I like it better than Prozac. I got the blahs when I was taking Prozac, didn’t feel like doing anything. But I’ve got more motivation now that I’m on Paxil. I’ve been on Paxil a couple of different times. No weight gain, minimal side effects. Like did it work for them or did it not !
I am a non-responder so I’m not the best judge of if something works or not. But it seemed to work for a little while. And Im suffering from PTSD Will paxil help me ???? I thought it was for Panic Disorders ??
Paxil is an antidepressant meant to alliviate depression. I know This is more then one question but Im sorry Thankyou to any one who can give me some info !!!!!! Diane

Dear Diane, I took Paxil for six months and for me it was very successful. I was having great waves of sadness that swept over me and over which I had no control. Paxil smoothed out the lows and enabled me to deal with the feeling. However, it also made me almost zombie-like ; there were no lows, but there were no highs either. I no longer cried at all, and I had always been an emotional person. And, my libido was almost non-existant. My depression was largely situational. When I made some moves which changed the situation, I then felt I could come off the Paxil. So, I did…very very slowly and carefully. I had, even so, some rather disconcerting symptoms, but they passed. I have, since then, experienced the effect of being on the edge of the depression pit, but one thing I learned from the professional counselling I got when I was taking the Paxil and during Jim’s death were some ways of coping which {on the whole} DO work for me… I hope the Paxil works for you; please be careful about coming off it. Do it slowly! Patricia In Vermont for a month….

Hi Diane! I am on paxil. i dont’ have an official diagnosis… so i can’t comment on that part. I know this has helped with my lows not being as low. But i am much tireder on it and my concentration levels haven’t improved much. hope it works for you…. purrs from, kitty

The one thing you shouldn’t do with Paxil is stop taking it suddenly. I cannot say anything bad about it – it’s great. Michael
