Question:
Anomaly is a quarterly zine by, for and about people with mental illness. We’re looking for contributors: first-person accounts of what it’s like to have a mental illness, deal with the meds, the shrinks, the hospitals; artwork, poetry & short on the same theme. Our goal is to show the rest of the world what it’s like to live with this "invisible" illness (whether it’s schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder, anxiety, PTSD, depression, etc.). We still don’t receive the same understanding & support that people with physical, "visible" illnesses do. NOTE: The next issue’s deadline is June 14. This issue will be themed around anxiety in all its various forms: generalized, phobias, PTSD, OCD, etc. This is your chance to speak out. Also, if you live near southeastern Mass., and would like to be a part of "anomaly night" (readings and music), let me know. (The date for this event is Saturday, June 5.) Your writing can be straightforward & serious, humorous or satirical. Personally, my writing tends to be satirical, because if I couldn’t make fun of being "crazy", then I’d REALLY be crazy! Just be honest, be yourself. To get an idea what we’re about, check out anomaly’s website at: http://www.biksco.com/anomaly/zine. (Or, if that one’s not working: http://members.xoom.com/my_anomaly.) If you reply to my email address, you must remove the word "not"–this is so I won’t get spammed by all those junk mailers who scan usenet groups. The correct email is: my_anom…@hotmail.com. Subscriptions are $8/year. Contributors receive 2 copies of the issue their stuff appears in. At some point, I’m gonna have t-shirts printed up to give to regular contributors, as well. You don’t have to use your real name; you can make one up or remain simply "anonymous". Help erase the stigma! SC –== Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ ==– —Share what you know.
