I don’t get to much support from, "we’ve been there, done that" and "run to a professsional." Guess support means different things to different people. I’ll continue to write what I choose, and everyone is free to ignore what I write.

Not personalizing is a very healthy way to live.

Hi All! I’ve read it enough lately to realize that, to some of us, ‘personalize’ and ‘personalization’ is a code word for a ‘bad’ posting. My dictionary says something to the effect that this means ‘to apply or understand as applied to a particular person, esp. to oneself’. IMO personalized posts are the MOST appropriate posts on this ng. While sometimes we refer folks to depersonalized references, like Baldwin’s trauma pages and the like, I think that the really appropriate posts here are those in which we use our own experiences and hope to share with each other. I think that I’ve been depersonalized sufficiently while professionals and myself were trying to figure out my diagnosis. I really don’t get too motivated or supported by posts that are not personal to the poster. Theories and ’shoulds’ are fine for those doing the treatment (and I’m sure that they have their own place on the net to talk about these) but I, at least, post here to relate to other members of the PTSD community. YMMV Smile and there will be something to smile about! Nancy
