Question:
Because work is a prison you should feel trapped that is natural. I feel that way at every job I do except the cool ones that don’t pay much. "daft duck" <daft.d…@nowhere.com> wrote in message

It’s always difficult to know when premonitions are right or wrong. Whether there is any foundation to them or if it is just a manifestation of paranoia or fear. I cut out an ad in the local paper for yet another part-time job and I couldn’t phone the guy. It "felt" really wrong. For two days I had the ad sitting there and couldn’t phone, then suddenly it seemed like the "right" thing to do, and I phoned him and he sounded REEEEEEEEEEEALLY nice. I got quite involved with Oracles once, and it is possible to seek "signs" and "portents" to govern your direction in life. It was uncanny at the time the kind of signs I got, but I understand this kind of thing can be dangerous. Not only can it take over your life, but you are in contact with unknown beings from the "other side" and I think it’s possible to get caught up in evil. Anyhow, I stopped doing that. It’s difficult to avoid altogether though, because now and then I will be thinking about what I should do in a certain situation when all of a sudden a voice will come out of the radio or TV with what seems like instructions on what to do which seem too coincidental as to be mere fabrication. What do you do when you are thinking about accepting or not accepting a job and the TV is on but you are not really hearing it and then suddenly and you get this LOUD voice from the TV that says "IF YOU TAKE THAT JOB YOU WILL END IN HELL". I dunno. Michelle

Just an overwhelming feeling that it was "WRONG" to say any longer, that I had to get out, the feeling was so strong, it seemed almost to be a matter of life or death. Michelle

Finding the man of your dreams if you quit this job, considering your age, might be considered excessively wishful thinking and folly. Having a dream about being run over by a car while carrying out the duties of this job,…. well, that would require you to become aware of the deja vu of this sequence of events in the futrue so you could keep your job and avoid getting run over by a car at the same time. Premonitions are scenes of the future that can be averted if you take an alterntative decisive action at that point of time in the future. Believe in them, trust in them, if you have developed a history of success with this type of phenomena. Other people WILL not accept premonitions as an excuse not to do something though. So read "Call Of The Wild" again and ask about that sled dog that was nearly beaten to death for not continuing on with the journey only to watch the rest of the team drown on the thin ice in the distance as they continued onward.

I get the same feeling acompanied by the thought ‘i must leave’ when in certain social situations i find difficult. I just ignore it cos i know its psychosis fear/anxiety as opposed to real fear/anxiety.

Speaking only for myself….. I sometimes notice such strong aversions. What I have learned to do is to approach it in a different way. I’ve suspected that it was some sort of suggestion I implanted in myself (….among many guesses as to what it is……) but my point is that by re-setting my mind set, especially on the approach to the place or task, I can miss that aversion feeling. HOWEVER……ahem…. Some places or environments simply have bad vibes. I think its good to listen to your feelings. Conversely, I would make several approaches before I gave up on the situation. Think of the work differently, alter your perspective, use the back door instead of the front door, change your "head approach". Of course, sometimes that just don’t work and I need to flee from the pain. I believe its some part of the psychic/psyche’ environment that causes it, yes. God knows what though… Damo http://community.webtv.net/damodara/Disinherited

Well then I wouldn’t overlook the credibility of your feelings. I get similar occurances from my PTSD, a lot of the time I border on violence do to the fear I feel. Not that you were, but don’t beat yourself up over your decision not to continue it could have averted some form of a disaster. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> Michelle

What is a PTSD? I’ve only felt this way once before in a working environment and was persuaded to ignore my feelings, much, I would add, to my regret. Michelle

Recovering vehicles that fall through ice is complicated, expensive Associated Press Published Jan. 10, 2003 RECOV10 FERGUS FALLS, MINN. — The record-setting high temperatures so far this winter have made driving on ice a high-risk adventure in much of Minnesota. But if a vehicle breaks through and sinks to the bottom of a lake, it pays to have adequate insurance. Vehicle replacement, environmental damage to the lake and removal of the vehicle is all covered if owners carry full insurance, said Mark Welle, co-owner of Allison Mickelson Pribbernow Insurance of Fergus Falls. And that can save ice anglers big money if their truck has to be rescued. Don Ternus, manager of North Union Towing in Fergus Falls, said the last one he handled took three days at 10 hours per day for $6,500. No two ice recoveries are the same, he said. If the vehicle is relatively close to shore, it can probably be winched and brought to dry land. Ternus and his crew use a chain saw to cut a path for the cable to follow. "We have 100 to 150 feet of cable mounted on the truck," Ternus said. "We have a huge reel of cable [800 feet] for winching when they get out far." Sometimes, if a vehicle is beyond the reach of the winch, a hole has to be cut around the vehicle and flotation devices attached to bring it to the surface. Then chain saws are again used to cut a channel to float the vehicle toward shore. When the vehicle is within winching range, it’s sunk again and pulled under the ice. A submerged vehicle is never the same, Ternus said. Even if you can dry out the engine and get it going, the electrical system will corrode and eventually fail. The record-breaking temperatures have been causing other trouble on Minnesota lakes as well. In Kandiyohi County, Mike O’Brien, a conservation officer for the state Department of Natural Resources, said Thursday that at least three fish houses have broken through the ice on Ringo and Games Lakes in the past 24 hours, and a car drove into open water on Green Lake. No injuries were reported. Fish houses on many Meeker County lakes also were bobbing in the water as the lakes opened up during this week’s mild weather. Sheriff Mike Hirman said some people may be tempted to go out and rescue their shacks, but it was too dangerous, he said. At least eight people have died falling through the ice in Minnesota this season, three more than all of last winter. Return to top

Can anyone throw some light on a recent experience I have had? I have been trying to get back to full time employment and managed to land a job, three afternoons a week, in addition to my morning job. Everything was going hunky dory, I was doing pretty much OK, but suddenly, one afternoon I just felt overcome with a feeling of being trapped and that being there was WRONG. I grabbed my coat and bag and said "I’ve just got to get out of here, I’ve just got to get out of here" and just ran out of the office, and sad to say, I haven’t been back since. This is a right drag because I badly need the money, but I CANNOT go back, it just "feels" wrong. Is this some kind of intuition as to something that will happen in the future if I stay, or is it just plain stupid? Michelle

The way you feel is probably the most important aspect of this occurance. The thing that bothers me is the reason you left is kind of vague, can you elaborate any? – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> Michelle

Were you "short of breath" or experiencing any kind of unconscious suffocating feelings? If so, the place was underventilated for your needs. You could have asked for an opening of a window or door. It was kind of rude for you not to check in with your superior on your way out the door though!! This kind of behavior cannot be good for references.?! Did you have a premonition of something "Bad" happening at your place of employ and you were just following your "flight instinct" to avert participation in a disaster? Then your reaction was self-justified, but you should have at least called your employer within the next day or so,.. with some kind of irrational excuse.

It’s OK, there were only two of us working there, me and the boss. All the other staff were on site. What you said about "flight instinct" to avert participation in a disaster, that is exactly how it felt, that somehow the future would go "wrong" If I stayed. That staying there was a recipe for some kind of disaster. There is no problem on references, I was only there a month and can leave it out of my CV. It was just an overwhelming feeling that I HAD to get out of there. He was very good about it, we haven’t fallen out or anything and he has phoned me a couple of times since then with computer problems that I have sorted out for him. I think that it must have been some kind of severe premonition about the future, that for some reason, my destiny would be affected if I stayed. Like maybe, I will find another part-time job now, meet the man of my dreams, get married and live happily ever after……….which would NOT have happened if I’d stayed at this job. Or maybe if I’d stayed at this job I would have got run over by a car or suchlike. I am quite convinced that premonitions of this kind are possible, the only question is, is it crazy to think that? Thanks for answering. Michelle
