So, I’m "really" Scott Armstrong-Collison,

I started this thread because I wanted to find some people with similar anxiety experiences as myself. I have a type of anxiety that I have found to be generation jumping. I would wish that you would start a different thread to insult each other and leave me to find the information that I am looking for. Try to clean up the language or find a different thread to exchange your obsenities and degradations. Thanks Fred
Response:
goets as you.
Sorry I was just laughing so hard I hit the wrong key. It is GOATS. But I do wish he would share his info,If it helps panic-anxiety.
Response:
Ummm…Not unless one of his ancestors was a goat molester.
First,I think you put your foot in your mouth,it does seem to be an insult to your friend. Second,I do know much about anxiety-panic,but I don’t know anything about molesting goets as you. If it helps PD could you share your experiance with goats.
Response:
It is only in reading a thread, such as this one, that would make any Brother or Sister feel the need to stay. This Order does not preach nor do we recruit, people have always come to us for help. It is in this teaching that you learn to overcome everyday negative, hostile attitudes. Fighting has never resolved anything. If you have peace in you’re life, there will be peace within you. Thus, recovery from PA/GAD may become an option.

Don’t even suggest it, toad. Armstrong was actually my father’s "stage name" for radio & TV broadcasting. Je sui nee Collison, pas Armstrong. The Armstrong name was (legally) added to my birth name of Collison in 1982, at a time when my father got tired of answering the question: "Why do your kids have a different last name?" So, I’m "really" Scott Armstrong-Collison, but it’s just a little too long to fit in most name spaces. Too bad; if we were related, I could have suggested that your genes must have been damaged — that you haven’t reached your full potential yet. Sadly, I have no evidence to suggest otherwise… Sorry. — Scott Armstrong CHAOS Software CHAOS(tm) Diagnostic OS PIU doesn’t need a cure — just faster modems! Remove the "*" in my address to respond.

You’ve crossed a line here Pope. Now, you know nothing about me or my "soberity," and I certnainly don’t need someone that can’t even spell sponsor as a sponsor. I have 9 years under my belt, you have two, I don’t think I need advice from someone as new as you. Have you worked the steps with a sponsor that has worked the steps. I have, twice, so I know where I am, and what I’m doing. There is no danger of my drinking again; I have no desire to drink. Can you say the same? Whether I’m on a "dry drunk" is none of your business. However, I would suggest that YOU get a sponsor and discuss your postings to this ng, and your behavoir here. —- Chuck <To e-mail, remove the * from my address

I don’t think you do .Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a result of living, read my lips, living through a traumatic event. (e.g. war, rape, near death experience, etc.)
Well you picked out one of mine, give him a star * .How, per chance, did you get PTSD? With your angry tone, I wouldn’t get into it.Plus you really would feel kind of stupid coming on so strong. Maybe that’s all the answer you need, but it certantly *can’t* be passed on to your children.
Wow really! I don’t think you read my responce,I think you just wanted your big FAT butt to flame me.Once again,I too was worried about passing it on,but my Dr.told me noway. Great support little chuck!

***Hi Chuck and Faith..:) Chuck, you are right that PTSD is the result of living through a traumatic event. I was a victim of child abuse and MY diagnosis is PTSD! I also have GAD. I would imagine that my GAD affected how I reacted to the traumatic experiences in my childhood and exacerbated the problems. My parents were not evil monsters determined to abuse their children. They were people from dysfunctional homes; people who had been mistreated when they were children. They were people who did NOT work through their own issues BEFORE they had children of their own
BTW, my father has GAD/PD and has the tendency to take his anxiety/stress out on those around him, rather than find healthier ways of dealing with his anxiety
IF a person has problems and issues from their childhood and they do not work through these problems and issues BEFORE they have children of their own, their problems WILL affect their children. Remember: you can only teach your children the things about life that you know yourself. IF you do not know healthy ways of dealing with life, with stress, with anger, with relationships, etc, you can NOT teach your children healthy ways of living. Thus, PTSD can be passed onto your children in terms of you creating a traumatic childhood home environment for your kids (if you have not worked through you own problems first). Obviously, not every parent with problems is going to create a traumatic childhood for their kids. However, we have previously discussed in this newsgroup how many of us came from dysfunctional families. We have also discussed how anxiety disorders tend to run in families. Living through childhood with parents with real problems is difficult enough — it is even more difficult if one has an anxiety disorder. I think a good example is that my sister and I had the same parents, but she does not have GAD. As a child, I always felt afraid of everything — my sister did not. We shared similar experiences, but my GAD made me perceive things as being scarier. So, no, PTSD can not be passed onto your child through heredity. However, if a parent has PTSD and has not worked through their own issues/problems before having children, that parent can create a traumatic childhood home environment for their children. take care, Pegi

Transgenerational PTSD happens when a parent cannot cope and through their actions cause traumatic stress over a long period of time. The child then has trouble coping both at home (which is usually hell) and has trouble coping with his/her peers(they cannot take their problems home) because they lack the coping skills to handle the rest of the world. I could see where the parents could pass on anxiety levels to their children. However, by definition PTSD is a result of a trauma, not another’s trauma. So the sufferer would have to had suffered a severe trauma. It’s possible that these children are more likely to experience trauma due to their parents behavior than children not born of PTSD parent(s). Interesting…. I have recently stumbled on information regarding the fact that people who survived concentration camps and suffered PTSD are likely to pass this on to their children. I found several articles in psychiatric journals dealing with this. Both my parents were in Concentration Camps during WW II and I was recently diagnosed with PTSD. Anxiety is my biggest problem. I also have Tourette Syndrome. I started having tics in my freshman year in college when I was 18. There was so much stress in my life at that time that it came out as neurological tics. I could go on but I’m just trying to get information now. I am willing to share my information to whomever may need it. Fred
