Ploot, hypervigilant? Tell me more.

Question:

"Hi there. I understand that hypervigilance can be a sign of PTSD. Perhaps "hypervigilance" is a psychological term. I couldn’t find it in the dictionary. I agree. It can be a sign of PTSD. Women who have been raped can be hypervigilant around men. War veterans can be hypervigilant in crowds and noisy environments.

Hi    What you said about being hypervigilant rang a bell with me. Could you tell me more about the term and your experience. My own comes from very early. I think my… (no, some other time)    …….and I am constantly looking around for where my death is coming from. Eric Oh, I posted instead of mailing because a.com seemed a spoof, no? — For more information about this service, send e-mail to:

Unless I miss my mark, it stands for Alt.Support.Depression. — I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now, what I’m with isn’t it, and what’s "it" seems weird and scary to me. — Abe Simpson :  "Homerpalooza"

Sorry if I seemlike a dummy, but PTSD? Also more about "hypervigilance" would be nice. TIA Eric —

"What you said about being hypervigilant rang a bell with me. "Could you tell me more about the term and your experience. I made the word up, Eric. I used it to mean a keen awareness of people and events around me. For example, when I shop for groceries, if someone stands beside me, I freeze, in a very subtle way, until they’ve moved on. "My own comes from very early. I think my… "(no, some other time)    …….and I am constantly looking around "for where my death is coming from. For me, it’s not concern for death as it is concern for injury, physical or emotional. "[email: a.com seemed a spoof] a.com is a spoof, because I avoid email. An inability to bond (form friendships and trust) is one of the effects of my traumas. Speaking of which, I’ve shared more personal stuff in this post than I usually do, Eric. I’ve reached my limit on personal sharing. I hope you understand.

I just wanted to follow-up, Eric, and explain your questions were appreciated and perfectly okay. It’s just that personal questions remind me of the childhood interrogations that preceded bouts of abuse. I suppose I’m hypervigilant in that way also.:)
