ADHD MEDS

Question:

I am just curious after reading   a bunch of anti ADHD meds postings if any of those against meds are ADHD or have a child with it. Or are any of you educators? I am very aware that there are many cases where a child should not be on meds, but in some cases this helps the individual function and succeed. Asil1966

i do agree with you. my fiance’s daughter is ADHD, however she is on the wrong medication right now. she is taking Adderall, and we have had nothing but problems with it. she was off it during the summer, but once we started her back on it, she was fine for 3 weeks, then she starts having bad days. and she complains constantly of a stomach-ache, or being tired. and she has no appetite. we have to almost force her to eat. at least we can get her to take her vitamins.  but because Adderall is an amphetimine based drug, we dont want her on it because of its addiction factor. her mother put her on this drug without researching it, and now we(bret, myself, and katie) are suffering for it. it cannot even be switched without going to a neurologist now. but like i started out with. some kids do need medication to help them focus. katie is a bundle of energy, but does need the medication to help focus. what she is on now does help at times, but i think something else would be better. erin ICQ# 2749955 Homepage:  http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Prairie/7496 Survivors Page:  http://forums.msn.com The soul would have no rainbow had the eyes no tears.   John Vance Cheney – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I am just curious after reading   a bunch of anti ADHD meds postings if any of those against meds are ADHD or have a child with it. It seems that most of the people doing anti-meds posting are either selling "natural" stuff or they won’t reveal what their connection with ADHD/ADD is.  Even though several people have asked them several times. There are certain children who shouldn’t be on certain meds, but the best person to decide whether the child should be on ANY meds or not would be the parents, the child, and their doctor. Sometimes, if a child is severely depressed or suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (like Uncle Chuckie "bothered" them, but they haven’t told anyone yet), symptoms very similar to ADHD are manifest, yet not necessarily helped by any of the medications, because the behaviors have a different underlying cause. — *Kay*  (It’s an ADD thing.  You wouldn’t underst-  hey, look at that!) – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I am just curious after reading   a bunch of anti ADHD meds postings if any of those against meds are ADHD or have a child with it.
