http://www.benzo.org.uk/nicks.htm I’m sure some of you have seen this before. Probably a perfect example of someone taking klonopin who didn’t really *need* it. What are your thoughts? take care. c.a.

As with "all" medication, there will be horror stories and positive stories. I do believe meds in general are being over prescribed, look at antibiotics. Just think if we didn`t have these meds……what our quality of life would be like. I don`t believe certain "meds" are bad, they work for some and not for others, they can cause nasty side-effects or none at all…….there are always risks when taking meds, thats the way it is

Well all I can say that klonopin has had the exact opposite reaction with me. I starting taking it after losing my Mum in Jan this year and after suffering with panic attacks and depression on and off for about 13 years. I have not had one single panic attack since taking it. My anxiety is lower than it has been since I was seventeen (I am now nearly 32) and my depression has virtually gone. (This would be a time when I would be severely depressed as my Mum and I were very close). I think she was given the wrong med for coming off cocaine. She obviously did not have panic disorder so it wouldn’t have helped her. As for weight gain. I have not gained any. In fact I have lost a little. It is stories like these that stop poor people taking medications that could change their lives. I was so weary of taking a benzo and so scared, now I don’t care if I take klonopin until the day I die. They could take my antidepressants off me (I have been on them for about 10 years) but not my klonopin. lol. She obviously wasn’t suited to this medication. Imogen

Either she wasn’t being honest with her Dr., or, if the doses were extremely high, the Dr. should be punished, or she was seeing multiple Drs. for more than one prescription. I wish it mentioned how much she was taking. Anyway you look at it, she was lying to herself or it never could have gotten that bad. Tono
