Question:
Riss and Shelley, YO! Persons after my own heart/head/symptoms! Yes they do fluctuate and get better overall. They have become rather like old friends to me now and at least I can feel. Not only can I feel, but sometimes the feelings are quite delicious when the skin is sensitive. The top of my head tingles constantly if I am tired – Jim strokes it gently for several minutes at a time, which gives relief for quite a while. This tingling on the bonce is my personal early-warning signal that I am overdoing things and I have learnt to ignore this warning at my peril. Ice packs can help, both on the head and on limbs. Last year I couldn’t bear socks/trousers/skirt around my feet and legs at all for several months due to the burning feeling but this has all subsided again now. If you’re nuts then we all are! Warm wishes, Helen

Hi, Riss. No, you’re not crazy — just another one of those sensory malfunctions that happens with MS. The signals from the brain to the nerve endings get mis-directed, sometimes, causing those weird sensations. I don’t call them symptoms, exactly — reserving that for more definite flare-ups. But instead, just "sensory weirdness"…. real scientific, huh?? Gann Ann

Panic disorder can give you symptoms like that, that aren’t quite panic attacks. cb

Riss–If you’re nuts, we all are. Weird water sensations, weird temperature sensations, oddball tingles…I’ve has em all here and there. In December 96 the burning sensations got so bad I couldn’t wear anything that touched my legs (like the hem of a skirt) because the pain was excruciating…but this topo shall pass (hopefully) for you…Shelley Fred Smith <fsm…@cyberspace.com> wrote in article <01bc583d$bfca8060$bcd6fdce@default>… – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> Does anyone else get weird little cold tingles on your head? What do you mean "Weird"? I thought it was normal to have the feeling you describe. I don’t get too concerned about cold tingles on my head and I’ve even got use to the "stabs" that have started since someone else mentioned it in the group. It’s the feeling of running water down my legs that worry me because sometimes it’s real! Nope — you are not nuts. Those wierd sensory symptoms are well within the range of my experience! Last three mornings, when I stand up, I feel as if the left side of my face is being slapped, hard with a hot, wet, electrically charged wash cloth! Go figure.. Riss, I’m so glad to hear that someone else has that sensation of a cold tingly feeling on your head. I thought i was the only one. I’ve described it as a brain quiver, kinda cold and tingly. I’ve been dx. for 3 1/2 years and that symptom has been with me off and on since the beginning. Nice to talk to ya Riss, sorry it’s under these circumstances. Take care Debbie

Riss, fsm…@CYBERSPACE.COM (Fred Smith) All ms symptoms are in your head (brain). MS can cause the wierdest sensations. Sometimes, one of my fingers or part of my hand feels wet, but has not water on it. Paul Bruce In a message dated 97-05-04 03:09:58 EDT, you write: << Subj: Weird symptom, or just "all in my head"? Well, folks, that little tingly feeling is the MS as the culprit. I have had it for before I was dx’d and I have read many many books by the "old timers" doctors that pioneered in the field and the tingling goosebumpy feelings that you get for no reason, especially on your scalp are the MS. At least that is what they told me.

Riss, The _thinking_ part of your brain is not nuts — the wiring is nuts! Since the nerves are nutso anything can happen (my husband used to know when he needed to pee because he got tingling in his head!). Riss, You are not nuts! Everything that happens to us is weird and comes from the short circuiting in our heads and spines. I get creepy crawlies all the time. It’s the nerve ending busy at work, giving us something else to think about:-) Hugs, Stelle
