Welcome guess who, I’m afraid that I can’t help you with your medication question. I have Panic Disorder but recent tests showed that my adrenal glands are fine. I have felt faint with Panic Disorder. Are you seeing a psychiatrist for the panic attacks? Take care, Meryl

.i have 2 in of course but only one is active..

please explain why one is inactive-what is the diagnosis .they seem to help some but only if i take like 2 but im told not to do that.

ask why-the range of effective dosing with tranxene is fairly large-for anxiety and panic an average dose of 30 to 60mg per day is not unusual. Some may get by on smaller doses . Tranxene is a metabolite of diazepam or valium so being so is a cleaner medication then valium-it lacks some of valiums properties as well but has some of its own-namely it has a very low side effect profile and is quite safe-for some it may exacerbate depression (imo) slightly more then some other benzo medications except klonopin which I believe has a greater potential to do this. Tranxene is only abortive to panic attacks at the higher end of the dosing scale if at all., but is very useful for the generalized pervasive type of angst people have in between-if your doc wasn’t a  benzophobe he may very well use this med and add xanax (alprazolam) to be used in case of panic.. Tranxene, a Valium metabolite, is a good benzo anxiolytic if you’re looking for a maintenance med. I has a slow onset of action and a very long half life. I took it for a few years and experienced it as a *benign* med. The only possible side effect (but one that should be temnporary) would be some fatigue. If you want to nip a panic attack in the bud you’d be better served by a fast acting benzo *as needed*, such as Xanax or Ativan. I find 7.5 mg of Tranxene a low dose. I don’t quite understand what your doctors mean: whether they think your panic is *organic* and chemically connected to your adrenal gland problem or whether they think this condition may take its psychological toll by causing you stress which in its turn may have triggered panic attacks.
