SSRI question

Question:

Welcome, Greg :-) I’ve always had trouble sleeping while on SSRI’s…and also weird dreams. Sometimes the doctor can give you something else to take before bedtime, and that really helps.  I take Xanax at bedtime. Welcoming hugs, Gigglz

– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Hello everyone!! I have been lurking here for a while and have to say that it is really good to know that I am not the only one who is going through these panic attacks.  For about 6 years, I thought that I was either experiencing dizziness from blood pressure as my doctor told me or that I was going nuts!  And for that reason, I never told anyone what was going on with me.  Thanks in part to this group, I have gone to a psychiatrist and have been diagnosed with panic disorder.  She put me on 10 mg of Lexapro 4 weeks ago and I have to say that I have not had a single panic attack since.  I can feel the anxiety start to build but it stops and goes no further.  I have read a lot of your posts about the side effects of different meds and I have to ask if I am the only one who is having a hard time with sleeping.  I have to tell you, I am having dreams, vivid, weird dreams all night long!  I wake up feeling tired because I have been living another dream life.  Please, someone tell me if this is the price that I pay for not having the panic attacks. Hi, Greg, Welcome to ASAPM!!! With the different meds some people tend to have different side effects from them.  Give your body more time to adjust to the med and if you don’t get the results you are looking for question your pdoc about this.  There are other choices in the med line also. smiles, Elise

Hello Greg and welcome to ASAP-M :-) It is not uncommon to have vivid dreams on SSRI’s,nor to have sleeping problems. For me it was just adjusting myself to it . My sleeping pattern changed greatly since on Paxil, but I have no problems with that anymore. The dreams will come and go. In time (for me at least) they seem to loose their
