Question:
- Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Hi everyone, I have was just wondering if anyone could help me. I have suffered from panic attacks with periods of agoraphobia for over ten years now and have had my ups and downs. This year has been a particularly stressful one for me. Take Pamelor 50 mgs and Xanax .625 mgs. (two and a half of the .25) daily. Problem is that within the last month I have started experiencing skipped heart beats. Have had them for years but they more frequent now. I used to be a cardiovascular technologist and when I check my pulse they feel like isolated PVC’s. When I exercise on the treadmill, which is usually, three or four times a week, for about twenty-five minutes, I check my pulses (radial and carotid) and have never detected a "skipped" beat. They seem to disappear with exercise, which is a good sign clinically. Just seem to get them when I am in stressful situations. I can be in a store doing fine but if I bump into someone I know who I feel uncomfortable with I will feel the PVC’s begin. Does anyone have the same type of symptoms? Please let me know. Thanks for listening.
they are isolated pvc’s and are harmless-the reflex of coughing works as does tightening your abdominals and holding sort of like isometric kegels of the tummy-they dont happen when excercising cause your working the heart muscle and the demand for o2 is greater-so it wont screw around with extra rythyms-sometimes when anxious or just mildly anxious the co2 ratio irritates the pericardium and send a reflex to spasm-its like a twitch or a hiccup-you wont get them when physically excerted nor should you notice bp changes or pulse changes if you do go to a cardio then you may have a problem. I get them too and they make me cough which in effect gets rid of them. I try not to concentrate on them because then I start to breathe shallowly and get anxious. They are annoying. It seems I may have a period of having them for a while and then not notice them for a long time. I guess it all depends on what stresses I have in my life at the time. I used to have alot of it, and some really violent ones, I wore a holter-monitor and was diagnosed with "multiform PVC’s" (does anyone know what "multiform" is, and if it’s dangerous?) Anyway, once I got put on a higher dose of anti-depressant it went away. I only have it once in awhile. I also have Mitral Valve Prolapse which alot of people with PA have. I get them too – yuk. My doctor says everyone gets them, it’s just we notice them more. Maybe we get them a bit more too, but he wasn’t concerned at all. Very reassuring. I find a hard cough, or sharp outbreath stops them too.

actually lastnight after my soccer game i noticed that i would feel a weird "lump" feeling in my chest and then it would go away, so i checked my pulse and every time i felt it it seemed my heart was skipping a beat. i almost freaked but rtemembered i had had these before, therefore it wasn’t a heart attack and i wasn’t about to die. it was weird though, the heart would beat 15 times and then skip. when i got home and chilled out it moved to one out of 30 then one out of 50 then maybe 100 beats. what the hell is this? i mean when i went to the hospital last month they gave me an ekg so i’m sure it’s nothing big. any ideas? Thanks for listening. Hi, I have had PVC`s for years, I can go through extended periods where I don`t get them or I get them frequently. I have a few triggers for me, anxiety, caffeine and PMS time. With my latest setback with panic disorder, I was getting them a few times a day. Like you, someone just had to approach me and I would get them. If I were you I would mention the increase in PVC`s to your doctor ,you want to be sure it is anxiety causing them. I would speculate that the reason you are not getting them while exercising is you are not anxious and you are preoccupied. Someone here recently posted something about PVC`s and coughing. They claimed when you got the PVC`s, to cough hard, as if you were trying to bring up phlegm. It is suppose to stop the PVC`s immediately. I have tried this technique everytime I have had a PVC and it does stop them cold. There are many here that have complained of this symptom too. Take care. Jackie Hi, Count me in too. I’ve had them for years. My doctor put me on a
beta-blocker-for this and migraines. I take Inderal L.A. 60 and it has helped me a lot. Best wishes, Linda
