Mike, DO NOT confuse hypochondria with Panic Disorder!

Arthur, See THE ANXIETY DISEASE by David Sheehan.  Hypochondria is one stage of Panic Disorder as many people first experience panic attacks and have no idea what is going on.  Since it feels so much like a heart attacks (and mentally like one is going crazy), it is naturally for the panic disorder sufferer to experience hypochondria.  And the hypochondria can last long after the person discovers exactly what the real problem is.  If I remember Mike’s original post correctly, he was merely discussing this one aspect of the disorder.  In my opinion, it would be difficult to deal with the disorder without first admitting the feelings that Mike admitted to having.
