Question:
I’m sorry, no advice. I’m just here to say welcome to you! I’m pretty new here too, but I’ve already found out this is a great group and they are so very supportive. So, hello! And I hope I can be of some help someday! Ali – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Hello! I am new here. I have mostly generalized anxiety with some attacks. I am also dealing with a recent worsening of my skin picking problem. I have just been placed on Luvox, so I’m wondering what has helped others?? Anyone used Luvox? Thank you!!
Response:
Thanks for the support everyone!

It’s often helpful to keep in mind that medicines like Luvox usually take a few weeks to start working at their peak, so it requires a little patience in the beginning. Maintain an open line of communication with your doctor and become very well-educated about the medicine (s) that you take. G

I am also on low dose of xanax. Works alright for me. Don’t use it for OCD (have mild OCD tendancies, but has never been a problem to control). It does have the drowsiness side effect, but IMO after a couple of weeks, most of that goes away and i don’t feel any drowsier in the afternoon than i normally would (i like my afternoon nap is what i’m trying to say). With the xanax i am not nearly as drowsy as the sleepiness that anxiety caused! – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Hello! I am new here. I have mostly generalized anxiety with some attacks. Luvox is great for OCD. Have you been diagnosed with this? Otherwise, I would try a very low dose of Xanax. It has worked for me, but it does have side effects such as drowsiness, etc.

A skin picking problem *sounds like* OCD… and Luvox is one of the preferred drugs to use for treatment of OCD! I wish you good luck with it! MikeH

OK I’m here! Finally thought to look for a panic newsgroup (duh!). Should have been obvious, eh? I’m 26, have had anxiety probs for years and years and years… Recently the panic attacks have been horrible, and a bit too frequent for my taste so I’m really trying to find as much info as I can, cuz I just can’t take it anymore. I’ve been on paxil for almost 3 years now, for general anxiety and depression. After the panic attack from hell earlier this week, I headed back to the doc and got me a diagnosis of Panic Disorder, and decided to play musical medications. Switching over to Effexor (looking for feedback on Effexor if you have a minute!) and still taking the Klonopin as needed, though while playing musical meds, I’ll be taking two a day – shoot I forget what the dosage is. It’s small, but effective. This is getting too long, so I’ll stop there for now, and try to get more acquainted with this group… TIA! — Roo.com http://www.roo.com A man who lives in a glass house should change in the basement.

Hi Becky, I started Efexor XR almost 3 weeks ago. I take 75mg at night. It is to alleviate depression. I had some initial side effects but they only lasted for a few days. I now feel much better. I also take Alprazolam 3 x a day, but that is for PD. I needed a little extra my first day on Efexor as my anxiety increased. Efexor is helping me. I hope it works for you. Good luck, Meryl

Hi Rebecca, I have found if i take one klonopin every day (before bed) the panic and anxiety subsides. My dr also said to take as needed, but my therapist suggested i try one per day at bedtime so i dont get too sleepy during the day. I also take Celexa (antidepressant) I really have to say that 1 klonopin before bed everyday has helped. Good Luck.
Response:
I’ll be popping two a day while weaning off the Paxil till the Effexor starts to work (fingers crossed). As for the Klonopin – sometimes it makes me tired, sometimes not really. Other times – like TODAY it make me restless. I am sooo bored and scattered – got ants in my pants (notice the posts all over the place and long winded at that

Just wanted to say welcome to ASAP. You will find a lot of support here, as well as a lot of very educated PD’ers who may be able to help you with any questions you may have about meds and such.
