Question:
Panic attacks with heart palpitations are a personal meno symptom of mine – apparently not all that common.
Very common to PD sufferers that I know. I guess it depends on what your definition of "palpitations" is! jIM bRONSON
Response:
I thought that this might be helpful to a few panic sufferers – my panic attacks are due to homone imbalances and below, in a post to sci.med, alt.com, and alt.support.menopause I wrote about how yam cream makes my panic go away. It’s really great! I can leave the house without steeling my mind for 3 or 4 hours before hand. Then I thought about you guys. The cream certainly isn’t for all but it might work for some! – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Re: heart disease or panic disorder? newsgroups: sci.med,alt.com Hi! Looks like your doctor’s barking up the same tree, so to speak. But if the problems are only 2 days a month and you have no other reason to want birth control pills, it seems a shame to take them for the whole month. Have you tried yam cream? It’s known as "progesterone" yam cream which put me off but I *believe* (based only on personal observations) that it boosts estrogen too. Still, if your problem’s on the last 2 cycle days changing progesterone levels may well be the problem. The advantages of the cream is that you get it when you need it rather than maintaining a steady month-long level, you control dosage and timing, and it doesn’t require a prescription. Available at most health food stores and some pharmacies. Check it out. The $16 to $20 per little jar kept me away for a long time but the jars last longer than they look like they will and it’s well worth the cost in terms of effect. I use it whenever I feel a panic attack coming on – works great! Panic attacks with heart palpitations are a personal meno symptom of mine – apparently not all that common. But it really demonstrates the efficacy of the cream – I can feel effects within 15 to 45 minutes and then do neat things like think, go outside, etc. DN I think I’m getting off the subject here. Oh, yeah – pounding heart, panic – hormone imbalances can definitely exacerbate many different problems with various body functionings – many of which we don’t assume to be connected with estrogen or progesterone. But panic and heart palpitations do occur from estrogen imbalances. This really caught my eye. Where can I find info about this. I am 25 and I have palpitations and tachycardia. I’m taking atenalol right now and most of the month I am OK. But the 2 days before my period it seems like my heart goes crazy. Sometimes if I take extra atenalol at this time it helps. My doctor suggested putting me on birth control pills and see if that helps. — Renee Ice cream is finger-food, you fool!
