Question:
<some snipped hi, I have a panic Disorder it went away with the help of two medications which were Zoloft,Klonopin. Then three years later i became pregnet again and six months into my pregnence they started all over again Right after i had my son i started to take the same medication. Now it has been three years and i still have Panic Attacks i can not figure out why it has not worked this time. My doctors says that we should try another medication soon. But if the medication worked the first time why isnt it working this time???? if anyone has any kind of suggestions that could help. please right back… Denise
Hi Denise; Welcome to ASAP I don’t know why the medications are not working, this time. But, if they’re not, I think trying a different medication would be worth a try. I’m assuming your Doctor wants to change the Zoloft, rather than the Klonopin. Are you taking the same dosages as before? Sorry about your Mom’s trouble. Has she been to see a specialist in Panic and Anxiety Disorders? If not, this might be worth a try. Let us know how you are getting along, and what you decide to do. If you decide to change anti-depressants, it might be helpful to continue the klonopin to help your body adjust to the new med. Kiesha

hi, I have a panic Disorder it came about after i gave birth to my first son. They said that it was a form of postpartum it went away 1 yearafter i had my son they went away with the help of two medications which were Zoloft,Kolonopin. Then three years later i became pregnet again and six months into my pregnence they started all over again and i could barely get to my doctors appiontments sometimes i just didnt go,and when it came time to give birth i thought for sure i was going to go crazy i didnt think i was going to get throught it. Right after i had my son i started to take the same medication. Now it has been three years and i still have Panic Attacks i can not figure out why it has not worked this time. My doctors says that we should try another medication soon. But if the medication worked the first time why isnt it working this time???? My mother has had Panic Attacks ever sense she was 20n years old. They started while she was at work one day right out of the blue. And shes had them ever sense. They started her on Anxies and that worked real well for years and she could leave the house with no problem now 40 some years later she addicted to it and it doesnt work at all. She is on anixes and paxil both and she still has panic attacks even when she is at home doing nothing at all that really worries me horribly!!!! She cant go anywhere. I can leave the house so i do most of her errands for her. I just have trouble go to far places so i do everything for her. My parents have not been anywhere togather as far back as i can remember and i am 24 years old and i cant think of any time that they have gone to the movies or any kind of date. She is apsolutley misserable. But she deals with it ever day cause she has gone to every doctor around and has tried everything that they have said. She sometimes has a panic attack playing with her grandchildren inher front yard. Well im sure your getting tried of reading this so if anyone has any kind of suggestions that could help. please right back… Denise my e-mail is

I did great on clomipramine for about eight years. Then the effect stopped. tried an SSRI. Didn’t work as well for me. Tried another SSRI. Same thing. I now use clomipramine’s closest relative imipramine and it does work. Far from this being a statistic fact of course, it just *might* be a possibility to trya med that’s most akin to the med that first helped you.
