I’ve never taken Luvox by itself. I started taking Buspar for anxiety and panic then added Luvox so any anxiety resulting from the effects of Luvox were under control. I was very afraid to take meds and that is why I started with Buspar. Any change in the way I felt brought on a panic attack so, for me, getting the panic and anxiety under control came first. If you are prone to react strongly to changes in the way you feel, then any changes you feel after taking Luvox might precipitate a panic attack. I WAS a caffeine addict. As others have mentioned, coffee is probably the single greatest cause of your anxiety and panic. Some people are sensitive to stimulants. Coffee, tea, and chocolate (my favorite foods) all have stimulating effects. It certainly makes me more alert and feeling good but it also sensitizes the alarm system in our bodies. I know it is hard to believe that something that a lot of people use everyday can have drastic effects on some of use but it is true. — Take care of your "self". whatatrip rbol…@eburg.com —–= Posted via Newsfeeds.Com, Uncensored Usenet News =—– http://www.newsfeeds.com – The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! —–==  Over 80,000 Newsgroups – 16 Different Servers! =—–

When I first started taking Paxil (Paxil and Luvox are both SSRIs) I had a terrible panic attack.  I called my pdoc, and he told me some of the feelings I had that triggered the attack were not uncommon when first starting an SSRI, and prescribed a low dosage of Klonopin to get me through the first few weeks.  It helped a lot.  After a while I dropped the Klonopin while staying on the Paxil, and the panic attacks did not return. Take this with a grain of salt, because I’ve had panic disorder for years, and taking meds was something that triggered my anxieties anyway.  However, some of the physical symptoms seemed different than the panic attacks I’d had before, and I suspect the adjustment to the Paxil may have been a factor. Lay off the Coffee :) Especially when taking new medications.

My guess is it’s the coffee. I used to be a heavy caffeine drinker, and I had my first panic attack after drinking more than 10 cups of coffee one day. I felt great until the caffeine rush wore off, and then I crashed. I’ve taken Luvox for OCD/depression/anxiety, and I found that it really helped with panic and anxiety. I’ve since cut caffeine completely out of my diet, and I only experience panic now after I drink coffee. But check with your doctor before making any decisions. Hi Elaine, I have also suffured from panic attacks and I started Luvox a year and a half ago. I haven’t suffered a panic attack due to Luvox, also, I haven’t had a panic attack since taking Luvox. I have been more prone to panic attacks after drinking coffee. A lot of coffee, you say? That could be the culprit. My doctor prescribed Luvox for my OCD.  I have never had a panic attack in my life.  Today I took just a half pill of Luvox ( I also drank a lot of coffee this morning) and about 5 hours after taking Luvox I had a panic attack.  I thought I was going to die.  I was never so scared in my life.  I had the attack at 3:00 p.m. and it is now 8:46 p.m. and I still don’t feel totally normal.  I am a little afraid it may happen again. My father also suffers from panic attacks and he told me that is what happened to me. I never want to take Luvox again if this is what is going to happen.  I can’t get in touch with my doctor.  Can anyone tell me if they have experienced this with Luvox? Elaine
