Re: Re: bad dreams I’ve been having really weird vivid dreams. Just sickening stuff. Graphic bloodshed, etc. I think this is due to the luvox. The thing you have to realize is that dreams are your subconscious self bringing up issues that you are ignoring in your conscious state. That is why people don’t want to dream Who wants to have to face real issues in the one place that you thought you could have some temporary refuge from reality. Dreams are personal and universal metaphors. Until you have the courage to face things exactly as th are and do something about them, then you will keep on having these disturbin dreams. A good place to start in understanding your dreams better is the book titled, Dreams:Your Magic Mirror by Elsie Sechrist. The Panicky Guy
HI PG, I find dreams can be very constructive at times. Of course it depends on what you belive about dreams. Some times I have the worst nightmares. Other times I hae found them to be very assitive in problem solving. One thing I remember most vividly, My grandmother taught me how to knit. And A few years later I was doing a baby blanket, but for the life of me, i could not remember how to "tie off" the ends of it. It bugged the crap out of me. I went to bed and had a dream about grandma, showing me how to do it, and lo and behold, I woke up the next day and finished the blanket. Dreams exist for a reason, and one of them is to remind you that you are still alive, and the other reason is to teach you to learn. (although I have NO CLUE why I dream about being back in high school argh! those are the ones I really hate..!!!) (( Not to mention the ones when I am in school NAKED! hehe :)) Mzpepper Posted at: Thorny’s BBS, Lawrence, Kansas USA telnet://thorny.ml.org —

Dreams are personal and : universal metaphors. Well, this in not always the case. Dream interpretation may be useful at times (my psychoanalyst step-father has a real passion for this) but it is not always a reliable procedure, and not all dreams have meaning. As Freud said, "Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar." I spent years with my late therapist trying to interpret my dreams (especially the horrific nightmares), but they mostly seemed little more than an expression of the horror of panic disorder. Besides, things like nocturnal panic attacks seem to occur before the REM sleep stage (the dream state). : Until you have the courage to face things exactly as they : are and do something about them, then you will keep on having these disturbing : dreams. I would only agree with this in cases where panic attacks are due to repressed trauma. This seems rarely the case considering the low success rate of psychoanalysis in panic disorder. Hi Kim, Yes I am one of those. I am an empath, If you do not know what that means, it means I can feel others feelings. It is highly annoying at times. As for my dreams, I’d rather not go in to those areas. But I do experience the same damned thing. What is worst is when my worst nighmares come true. I try to NOT dream, because there is always something that I do not want to know about. It really bugs me. I surely wish i could get rid of the dreams, but it is not going to happen. I’ve been doing this since I was a child. People look at me like I am crazy. but it never fails, If I dream it, it happens. Thank god my husband understands it. Heck, I was eaten alive, executed, and actually died in my dreams. But I did survive it all. If at all possible, try to *not* take your dreams too seriously, and try to *not* dwell on them. As for your feelings (doom, loss of concentration, etc.) they are very common for people living with panic disorder. Are you discussing this with a doctor or therapist? There are a variety of helpful options for you, but need to seek them out; either here with us, or with some health professional. Best Wishes, Arthur
